Length of pooNool
From the Bhakti List Archives
• June 7, 1999
Dear bhaktas: A friend of mine who is originally from Bengal and belongs to the Rk shAka told me that Rks have the shortest yajnopavItam, followed by yajus, sAma and atharvaNa (in that order of increasing length). He did not know the reason. I am wondering if this is true and why. I suspect that it may have to do with the associated(??) vedAntasUtras, since the term sUtra means string as well as formula. I wasn't able to find a related discussion in the archives so I am posting this as a question. Hope to hear from fellow members. aDiyEn -Srinath Chakravarty email: xsrinath@ti.com
