SrI:
Dearest Sisters and Brothers,
After enjoying Lord's victorious acts in the last ten, AzhwAr ponders
over the essentially / natural phenomenon of anyone wanting to learn
only about such Greatest Lord and NOTHING ELSE. NampiLLai says that
KUrEsar enjoys the whole ten as that of Sri Rama even though only the
first two pAsurams are about Sri Ramachandra mUrthy.
1. "kaRpaar Ramapiraanai allaal maRRum kaRparO?..." goes the first
pAsuram. Why should anyone wish to learn anything but Sri Ramaa? Sri
Rama took everything (the Grass, the creeping ant, the living and
non-living, everyone and everything, - everything that was moving,
everything that was still- all that was born or created by BrahmA- all
that existed in His AyOddya,) to the very best of position (mOksham).
(what a beautiful verse! Sri Rama was so merciful and compassionate that
He took ALL (irrespective of their jnAnam, Bhakti, knowledge,
scholarship, or even an inclination to think of mOksham) out of His own
dayA! It is HE WHO SHOULD GUIDE US TO REACH HIM AND BE TAKEN BY HIM.
Like Sri Anand wrote It is He who hepls us to find AchAryA to mould us
in such a way that we reach Him ultimately.- Such a Krupaakaran Parama
kaaruNikO Bhagawaan- parama dhayaaLu- SaraNagatha vathsalan- Sri Rama-
SHOULD SOMEONE LEARN ANYTHING ELSE, BUT HIM? OF COURSE NOT.)
2. "naattil piRanthavar NaaraNaRkku AaLanRi AavarO?... The second
pAsuram says: Emperumaan, who is unbounded by karmas, still was born in
this earthly world and underwent sufferings for the sake of all of us
(the worldly people). Sri Rama took such an avataar and on His own went
searching for asurAs and killed them to save His people. Not only that.
When He completed the mission of His avataar and He was to go back to
Sri vaikuntam, He took all His people along with Him. After listening to
such ParamaathmA, Sri Rama's life, Of whom will someone become a servant
except His?
3. "kEtpaarkaL kEsavan keerthiyallaal maRRUm kEtparO?....(Sri Rama took
everyone in AyOdhya along with Him to Sri Vikuntam. Whereas-) OUR
DEAREST SRI KRISHNAN, granted mOksham to even His enemy, sisupaalan,
(who scolded Him in such unparliamentary language in front of so many).
JnAnis who actually know such of His KalYANa guNAs, still desire to hear
Sri KrishNan- The One who killed kEsi asuran- Kesavan's glorious acts
only- WOULD THEY WISH TO HEAR SOMETHING ELSE? (No.) (NamPiLLai says: Sri
KrishNA's dayA is greater than Sri Rama's krupA, due to His granting
mOksham to even sisupaalan.)
4. "thanmai aRibhavarthaam avaRkku aaLanRi aavaarO?...(If there is any
guNA of Emperumaan that is grander than that which granted mOksham to
sisupaalan, the asurA, then it is His protecting the universe during the
PraLayam by retaining the worlds in His stomach- as interpreted by
NampiLLai) During mahApraLayam, the sentient and non-sentient beings
will all perish. During that catostraphe, Emperumaan retains the
universe in His stomach. Afterwards, He creates BrahmA, the water- and
Pancha bhUthAs and brings out all sentient and non-sentient that were
dormant during PraLyam. He is such Greatest Primordal Chief and is the
Aadhi kaaraNan- Basic Cause and Effect of everything. Such wonderful
acts of KaNNan are always realized by learned ones and they- after
realising that- will they desire to be enslaved by anyone else EXCEPT
KANNAN?
5. "soozhalgaL sindhikkil maayan kazhalanRi choozhwarO?…When the Mother
earth was trapped in the deep troubled waters (like that of PraLyam
(Cosmic cycle end)), Bhagawaan took His Varaaha avataar and brought the
earth back on His tusk, and protected the same. One, after realizing
such a Varaaha avataar’s vaibhavam, Is there any other means THAN TO
HOLD THE LOTUS FEET OF HIS? Immaterial of how many ages one has been
contemplating on ways and means for salvation, THERE IS NONE BUT TO
CATCH HOLD OF VARAAHA SWAMI’S LOTUSB FEET.
6. "kEttum uNarndhavar kEsavarkku AaLanRi AavarO? …(NampiLLai says:
This pAsuram that talks about Vaamana avataar whose vaibhavam is more
beautiful and grand than Varaaha avataar.) MahA bhali Chkravartthi, the
one who kept donating to others (a "vaLLal") became proud and egoistic,
and started troubling DevAs, with his might. The poor dEvAs went and
surrendered to Emperumaan Sriman Narayanan. In order to alleviate their
sufferings, He took Vaamana avataar, as a small Brahmachari boy. He
begged three measures of earth from Maha bhali. Without being aware of
the severity of the yaachakam and the boy’s caliber, Bhali consented.
Vaamanan became HUGE and took Trivikrama avataar and measured the entire
world in two steps of His Feet; with the third on Bhali’s head. Thus He
protected and saved the world and dEvAs. By only Such "marvelous,
wonderful" Maayavan, Lord Emperumaan- Kesavan alone- Those who have
heard of Vaamana avataar- would like to be ruled. NONE ELSE.
7. "kaNdum theLindhum kaRRaar kaNNaRkku AaLanRi AavarO?…IN ORDER TO
GRANT LONG LIFE (CHIRANJEEVITHVAM) TO Bhakthan MarkaNdEyan- (the one who
wears fragrant garland on his body) Sivan took him to Emperumaan
Narayanan. Emperumaan also, like His eternal life, granted the same to
MarkaNdEyan and blessed him to be chiranjeevi. Not only did He give him
long life, He also went behind that bhakthA, MarkaNdEyan. Those who have
learnt of such Parama kaaruNyam of Emperumaan- KaNNan- WILL NEVER LET
THEMSELVES OFFER THEIR SERVITUDE TO OTHERS, BUT KANNAN.
8. "sella uNarndhavar selvanthan seer anRik kaRparO?… HiraNyan
underwent severe penance and obtained Great boon from BrahmA. Due to his
false pride and ego, he fought with deVas and won against them. He
troubled them and made dEvAs suffer terribly. Hence, in full compliance
with the boon granted to HiraNyan by Brahma, Emperumaan Sriman
Narayanan, took NarasimhA avataar, and tore his body and killed him.
After knowing such Great deeds of Emperumaan KaNNan, will someone be
enslaved by others except KaNNan? (No.)
9. "maayam aRibhavar maayavaRkku AaLanRi AavarO?… DurYodhanaadhis-the
hundred kauravaas- deceived the Pancha paandavaas and obtained the share
of lands, by wrong means. In order to destroy the kauravaas, KaNNan,
drove the chariot, and helped paandavaas win against Kauravaas in the
battle. After learning such Great deeds of KaNNan, will someone desire
to be ruled by others except Him? (No.)
10. "vaartthai aRibhavar maayavaRkku AaLanRi AavarO?…AthmA, without
knowing its true nature, undergoes various births. Due to their births,
there are diseases and deaths; Bhagawaan, with His grace and dayA, The
Most Merciful Lord, removes the sufferings of AthmA and enables it to
reach His Lotus Feet. (See, it is He who enables us!). Those who are
clear of this, and who are clear of His "words" (vaartthai) WILL NOT LET
THEMSELVES BECOME SOMEONE ELSE’S SERVANTS. (Dearest Sisters and
Brothers, here, "the first word in this pasursam "vaartthai", refers to
His Bhagawadh GitA Vaartthai i.e maam Ekam charaNam vraja:. Surrender to
Me alone….
11. The BhakthAs, the adiyaarkaL- are certain and are determined that
Emperumaan alone is the means as well as the end. They DO NOT HEAR OF
OTHERS’ (MISLEADING) ACTS OR WRONG WORDS, and get influenced by that.
THEY REMAIN UNAFFECTED BY SUCH EXTERNAL FACTORS. To such determined
Devotees, (those who have such vairaaghyam) KaNNan grants mOksham at Sri
Vaikuntam. About this KaNNan, Sri SadgOpar has sung 1000 pAsurams in
praise of KaNNan. Those who learn these ten (out of 1000) WILL HAVE
CRYSTAL CLEAR MINDS IN ALL THREE WORLDS. ("in spite of where they live-
in spite of their living in samsaara saagaram- they all will possess
CLEAR DETERMINED MINDS THAT LONG FOR EMPERUMAAN" says NampiLLai.
