I would also suggest reading "The Saattaada Srivaishnavas"
by Prof. Robert Lester, which appeared in the Journal of the
American Oriental Society, Jan-Mar 1994, which discusses
some interactions between brahmin and non-brahmin Srivaishnavas.
Also of interest may be Vasudha Narayanan's latest book,
"The Vernacular Veda", a history of the use of Tiruvaaymoli
in Srivaishnava religious life.
