A doubt

Dear Bhakthas,
I have a doubt regarding a custom followed by many people. A cousin of
mine recently wanted to go to Tirupati, but was asked by elders not to go as
his wife is pregnant. When asked for more reasons, they said that if the
wife is expecting, then the husband should not climb up a hill.
Can anybody explain what is the reason for this and why this custom is
prevalent? Also, what are the other things that a would-be father
should/should not do? Thanks.

Nagaraj
