To: prapatti@srirangam.esd.sgi.com It seems to me that rather than understanding and following Sri Ramanuja's principles, his "followers" are more interested in making him an incarnation of x or y, make a statue out of him and pour milk and honey on that statue. So, whose incarnation is Desikar? --badri Don't be too hard on them, Badri. Your point is entirely correct, but every religious group is doing the same thing (in fact, many are far far worse ), so it must be something innate in man, to hold on to ritual even if the principle is forgotten. Guru Nanak satirized the thread of the dvija as an outward show, empty of meaning, when the real thread is the thread of bhakti etc. So what happened ? His followers wear big prominent turbans and beards and bangles, far more showy than the humble thread, while bhakti remains as elusive as a monsoon cloud in March. RS
