SrI: Dear Sri Mukundan, There was also the same doubt from Sow Kalaivani. It may be true that Anjaneya was the flag during bhAratha yuddham (KurukshEthra battle). However, the Lord Sriman Narayananis the One who is called "GauLa kodiyaan- one who has GarudA in His flag; possibly, GarudA was present whenever and wherever teh Lord appeas as His flag; it may have Anjaneya imprinted on it. :-) AndAL herself says.. in Naachiyar Thirumozhi (paadum kuyilgaaL ! Edhenna padal?... Adum GaruLakkodi udaiyaar vandhu aruL seydhu..98th pAsuram) the meymmai peruvaartthai - is mentioned in 113th PAsuram.
