Dear bhAgavatAs and especially Smt. Jayashree Saranathan, Your observations about self-explanatory verses in the bhagavadgItA is what I have been saying all along. What can be simpler than that and what can be a better shAstram. It is appropriately said about bhagavadgItA: gItA su gItA kartavyA kim anyaiH shAstra vistaraiH. It is like the Wal-Mart of the super stores: If you don't find it there you don't need that! > Mrs. Saranathan also said: >>>When, I, the ordinary mortal can be so moved > by the pains in other's life, won't HE, the kaarunya seelan in HIS SUPREME > compassionate bhava pardon them, spare them of more of hell. > HE WILL HE HAS TO...<<< Indeed HE HAS done that. It is very clear (again self-evident) in the bhagavadgItA. While it is all nice and great to dwell on all the itara (out side bhagavadgItA- that is the parama shAstram) shAstrams and commentaries, we should never let the tail wag the dog. Most of us (especially adiyEn) are not ready for mOxam. Thus, it is only natural that we get preoccupied with the clutters of our life, including various other commentaries and elaborations, as well as astrology, palmistry, yantrams, tantrams etc and etc. I have stated the problem for my-self and identifying th eproblem has immensly helped me. I am sharing thi shere, hoping it may benefit oters too. dAsan K.
