Samashrayanam Principles

Dear Bhaktas

I had samashrayanam done when i was much younger and when i had a 
fascination to grasp the feeling of it. Unfortunately this meant that i had 
never managed to understand the entire significance of this and how it 
completes some stage in a vaishnava's life. I would be delighted to know 
more about Samashrayanam and what sort of duties or rituals one has to 
perform to honour this tradition. Please forgive me for my ignorance.
