Dear BhakthAs:

It is my BhAgyam to announce the arrival of 
the first 17 sets of the twin volume of Audio
Tapes : " The Divine Stories of the Alwars ".

Each set has two tapes running in all for 80 minutes.
Te text dealing with the lives of individual AzhwArs 
are in English  with the added benefit of the beautiful 
rendering of the Sanskrit Taniyans and other laudatory
slOkas for each of the 12 AzhwArs .The Pronunciation
experienced the Sanskrit slOkAs is most chaste.
Each of these slOkAs are sung in selected RaagAs of
Carnatic Music by very competent vidhvAns , who have 
mastery over Raaga LakshaNams and the Sanskrit language. 
Some of the Raagams used are HindOLam , ThOdi , Mohanam,
KalyANi , SaarangA , Revathi ,AbhEri , SahAnA , Aaarabhi , 
AtANA , Desh , BhUpALam , PanthuvarALi , Poorvi KlayANi,
Kaapi , MallAri , ,BhouLai , KhAmbhOji and MadhyamAvathi.

MangaLa Instruments hum the music in background . VeeNA ,
Flute, Naadhasvaram , Mrudhangam and Ghatam  are used
as accompaniments . For special effects , NagarA , 
Tampattam , GhantA , KeraLA JeNDai Vaadhyam ( during
the narration of the history of KulasEkharar)
have been used.

Special effects like the sound of flowing Cauvery
waters ( Duirng ThiruppANAzhwAr's charithram narration ),
Thunder et al have been incorporated as background
befitting the special sections of the narration
on the lives of the AzhwArs.

The two tapes are a by-product of the larger
Interactive Multimedia Project on the Life of
the AzhwArs and the 108 Dhivya Desams that they
performed MangaLAsAsanam , which Sriman Alwar of
Mysore and adiyEn have been working on with support
from number of BhakthAs for the past few months.
Those Multimedia CD ROMs are almost ready.Meanwhile,
we wanted to release an audio version for the families
of BhakthAs .

The concept for these Tapes was developed by adiyEn
and Dr.M.A.Alwar of Mysore . The script for these
narrations has been provided by Thirumanjanam 
S.Sundararajan of Srirangam. He has posted many 
exquisite articles on the Bhakthi list sofar. 

The beautiful cover design contaiing the pictures of 
the 12 AzhwArs was conceived by Dr.M.A.Alwar. 

These tapes are released by the International
RaamAnujA Society head quarterd in Denver , Colorado. 
Additional information on the Sri Sookthis of 
the 12 AzhwArs and their Vaibhavam has been archived 
in Bhakthi archives. These tapes are the second in 
the series of educational material released by
the International RaamAnujA Society . The first in
this series is the Interactive Mulitmedia CD ROM 
on the life and Sri Sookthis of AchArya RaamAnujA
released last year. 

I have the first batch of 16 Copies availab;e
for distribution. We have made 500 copies in all
and some  of the BhakthAs returning from India are 
hand carrying additional copies here.
