Modesty and Ego

From the Bhakti List Archives

SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA!

Respected Bhagavathas,

Adiyen have something to say in general, not mentioning any "kind of duel"
going around here in the list.

Unfortunately Modesty and Ego do not go hand-in-hand. The first and foremost
thing our Acharyas taught us was: NOT TO HAVE ANY AHANKARAS LIKE CASTE,
LINEAGE, AGE, VIDYA, EXPERIENCE and even about KAINKARYAS.

Lives of our Azhwars and of many Acharyas have shown that they always
preferred to stay as "UNSUNG HEROS".

One should consider himself/herself lower than "Thondar Adi Podi"(Dust of
Bhagavathas' feet).

However learnt one maybe or however senior one may be or however blessed one
may be...........Everything is in vain, when one does not submit himself and
his actions unto God, rather takes the pride in himself.

Also making too much of proclaimations or tending to be very very polite and
modest by words............May be a simple "show off" of his
pride........its an indirect way of saying "You see, I am the most Modest of
all". Showing modesty more in actions rather than in mere words is what one
should practise.

Adiyen understand that everyone in this list, very well knows of the above
things already. Its not Adiyen's intention nor Adiyen have the right to
reiterate or to pin point anyone like........"Look you are not like this".
It is just Adiyen wanted to share Adiyen's views.
