namaskAramgaL! I just wanted to share the following comments from Sri Venkat Iyengar with the bhakti members: adiyEn, Kalyani Krishnamachari ============================== Subject: Re: mannu perumpugazh Date: Mon, 28 Dec 1998 11:55:20 +0000 (GMT) From: "Venkat Iyengar S."dear madam, Thank you very much for taking extra effort and time to beautifully bring out the meanings of this paasuram and sri PVP's vyakyanam. Unfortunately due to the (nagaram!) which has been established at Srivilliputtur the gentle walking swans no longer roam in the fields here. One has to go well into the forest nearby after rains to catch a glimpse of the white birds floating around near water pools. Also i came to know why hamsa vahanam/anna vahanam is one of Andal's favorite vahanams.Sri Andal comes in the periya hamsa vahanam during garuda sevai in adi masam ,and she will come riding through the Srivilliputtur streets on Anna Vahanam on 11th jan 99(5 th thirunal) in this margazhi. Also this paasuram is a special one in this series as it is recited 2 times thank you Venkat S Iyengar. ------------------- Subject: Re: mannu perumpugazh Date: Tue, 5 Jan 1999 11:21:29 +0000 (GMT) From: "Venkat Iyengar S." madam, yes,you may share that mail in the list.i was reflecting on the meanings of individual words of that paasuram last weekend.Sri andal uses the phrase "en poru kayal kan inai tunja".the meanings of the words "poru kayal" before kan is not very straight if one thinks in simple tamil .one can imagine it as the eyes that are waiting excitedly and impatiently for the permanent darsanam of lord's thirumeni(as the words 'ponnadi kanbador asainal') is used ponnadi kamikaporar adhi nichiyam but when..so andal is waiting impatiently so that at the instant perumal gives her the darsanam she does not want her eyes to be closed even for a fractional amount of time at that instant and then from instant onwards have nitya darsanam(sada pasyanti) though i do not know the meaning of" poru kayal" i have just tried to guess and speculate based on your meanings and these are just some of my thoughts....
