I enjoyed your posting as I always do.  Some of the questions you raised, were 
questions after my own heart.  For eg.  Is it necessary to be a Sri Vaishnava 
to attain Moksha etc.,  Since the Lord is Kapata Nataka Soothra Dhari this 
could very well be true.  In connection with your above passage I wish to place 
the following comment:

Please note that one of the Kanchi Acharyas in one of his  work called "Daya 
Shathakam" also  likened Lord Srinivasa to a farmer:
vide ".....Vrishashailesha Krishivalam Dhinothy".
