Introduction
From the Bhakti List Archives

Greetings, Member of the 'Prapathi' group: I was just inducted as a member to this group, and was requested by Sriman Mani Varadarajanto introduce myself. My name is Candadai Ananth, and I hail from Madras. Our native is Kangeyanellore, a small hamlet in Vellore, South India. The name "Candadai" is drawn from the name of a small village in southern Andhra Pradesh (near Chitoor), I'm told, although the name is not in existence anymore ! (I've always been intrigued by this name - does it have any semblance to the Tamil word "Kandal Aadai", and hence "Candadai" ?). I completed a bachelors degree (Statistics) from Loyola College, Madras, and then went on to obtain a masters in biostatistics from Christian Medical College, Vellore. I arrived in the United States in August 1990, to pursue graduate studies in public health with concentration in biostatistics (Masters in Public Health). Upon completiong the MPH, I pursued a doctorate in Epidemiology with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. I am grateful to Sri Mani Varadarajan for including me to this list. Lately, I have been keen in learning more about Sri Ramanujachari's and Vedanta Desikar' teachings and my cousin, Rajiv Madabhushi, introduced me to this list. This desire to pursue and learn more was further escalated when I read a few narrations on this list by Sri Sadagopan, Sri Sudarshan (who is also my cousin), Sri Ramaswamy, and others. I am truly amazed by the scholarly and enlightening narration of several issues by learned people on this list, and am looking forward to a very rich learning experience on our Vaishnavism philosophy through this list. ananth
