Saaligramam worship
From the Bhakti List Archives

This morning, my family and I had the good fortune of offering thirumanjanam to three saaligramams in our home. The aradhana was led by our good friends, and fellow memebers of this group, Mr. C. S. Ramesh and his wife, Suddha. During the aradhana, I pondered this unique form of the Lord, and wondered as to the origins of His worship. It is my understanding that the worship of the Lord as the Saaligramam is part of Pancaratra beliefs. But, I am wondering how this practice is reconciled with the worship of the temple archa that is so strongly extolled by the Azhwars and Acharyas. I would very much appreciate some insight on this.
