Observations on the mail of today : 1.Sri Eliyavalli"s point about Pancha Gramams. The fourth one I think is Peruga VaZhundaan . It is on the banks of Paamini or Korai River. It was a well known agraharam , where great Vedic Scholars came from and were Paricipating actively in Sri Rajagopalan"s Utsavam thru their Veda Paaraayana Kainkaryam. My grand father on my mother's side hails from there. The descendants of Karpangadu Swami are residing in T,Nagar. The grand son is a Doctor and his daughter is a disciple of my sister in Carnatic Music dealing with Swami Desikan's works & Azhwar Pasurams.. 2.Kanaka"s request for information on way to worship Hanuman or Siriya Thiruvadi: Hanuman Chalisa is a good stotram to recite. However, Hanuman loves to hear the Rama Nama Katha. Our tradition views him as sitting with folded hands and tear choked eyes, wherever Rama Katha is recited. Hence, If I may suggest, a special reading of Sundara Khandam during the Sri Rama Navami time would be good approach.. It is usually done in the navaaham style ,when the whole Khandam is read over 9 days. This Year Sri Rama Navami falls on March28, a week after Sri Ranganatha"s constellation, which is Revathi. Periya Perumal has a diffeerent star compared to Sri Oppilappan, Annan Koil Perumal and Venkatachalapathi.Their nakshatram is Sravanam. One can start on Periya Perumal"s sacred day and complete the Sundara Khandam recitation in a sapthaaham fashion and offer a Santhana Kappu or Vada Maalai for the Hanuman Icon. 3. The 4,000 classification posted by Sri S.Rengi is a very good one. I am glad to learn about it . That classification covers as he pointed out all the three Rahasyaas. 4. I know very well Mrs.Y.G.P "s project on Divya Desa Samrakshanam. She breifed me on this project few years ago.The credentials of this Group are unimpeachable. We however should focus on the First projeect of ours(108 DD CD ROM ) as Sri Srinivasan says and then assess otheropportunities of interest to all of us one by one such as the dedicated efforts of Mrs. YGP. She is some administrator . She has taken many initatives and concluded them successfully n her professional field. The Commissioner of the Hindu Temple Endowment Board of the Government of Tamilnadu is not doing a good Job in addressing the needs of many Vaishnavite and Saivite Paadal Sthalangal. We can join in this "fight " and lend support to Mrs.YGP & her Sabha as a part of our enlightened self interest in these ancient temples. I am delighted to hear that the Pudu Periyavaal of Kanchi Mutt donated 10K Rs to the Vaishnava Divya Desa Samrakshana Sabha. Kanchi matam has always had an enlightened view. You might recall that Sri Jayendra Saraswati of Kanchi Petam contributed a tidy sum to the construction of one of the tiers of Periya Perumal Southern Gopuram construction project of the 44th Jeeyar of Ahobila Mutt. The picture of the three Yatis, Ahobila Matam Jeeyar, Srirangam Aandavan and Kanchi Peetathipathi appeared in Nrusimha Priya in a special issue. V.Sadagopan
