Re: Doubts on Golden Deer

A very nice topic indeed. Call it good timing, this doubt has always been lingering in my mind. Will I be wrong if I say that Rama was nice and merciful to all the jeevas??? If so, how can he hurt a poor harmless deer (if we forget Mareecha for the moment)?? I do understand that hunting in the forest is a part of Kshatriya Dharma, but is there any mentioning of Rama hunting in any other part of the Ramayana??? I remember reading somewhere that Arjuna (even Krishna) would go to the forests to hunt, to hone their skills in archery, did they go after just the carnivores, or even the herbivores?? I shall be thankful to anybody who clears my doubts. Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan, Vimal --- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
