Chanting of veda-s by women.
From the Bhakti List Archives
• January 29, 2003
I feel that there have been enough postings on this topic now. Unless anyone has any pramANa-s, advice from AcArya-s, information that they have received from kAlakshepam, etc., I would like to defer furhter discussion on this topic at this stage. As many members of this list should know, the sanAtana dharmam is something we have to learn from our elders, by listening to our AcArya-s, etc. While I do not know why the practice exists, I believe the practice of women not chanting veda-s exists, and is sanctioned by our AcArya-s. If anyone can post information based on these sources, please do so. I should recognize that a couple of postings did deal with the views of those who are in the position of AcArya-s on the topic. I would like those who participated in this discussion, to think about whether the real benefit of the forum should be to share what we, AS INDIVIDUALS, feel on these important topics, or whether it will be more valuable to seek authoritative sources, and share their position. I have seen a lot of postings that just categorically declare "I believe this should be the case - purely because, TO ME, this seems reasonable". I personally believe that the seeking our elders' and AcArya-s instructions on these topics will be more productive. Just a thought for future discussions related to future topics. -Moderator. -------------------------------------------------------------- - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Group Home: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bhakti-list Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ Your use of Yahoo!
