SrI:
SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:
Dearest srivaishnavas,
ThiruppAvai verse 19- The most beautiful and most important verse-
KutthuviLakkeriya.. The GopiKAs wake each other up seeing that it has
already dawned to start their puJA at Yamuna with KaNNan. Last verse, they
pleaded Nappinnai PiraaTTi to wake Him up and recommend them to Him for His
blessing. They try to wake Him up (as they have spotted Him) and have
failed.

They address Him:

KrishNA! Now we understand as to why you are not responding nor are you
getting up. What have you understood? - is perhaps you query. We have
realized that our problem is much less compared to yours. You are terribly
trapped underneath those mountains. We think even that MahalakshmI who
resides eternally in Your divine broad chest has run away when she saw those
two mountains falling on your broad chest.

We know of your chestÂ’s strength and breadth. It has even expanded more than
before. Your blue hued divine chest has become reddish in colour due to the
impact of those mountains of Nappinnai PiraaTTi. You are OppAr mikkAr
illAtha maamaamayan- none above You. How can you be below now? Now you are
not able to open your jOthivaay (divine mouth) and speak.
What you say is not right. Did you see where I am lying down?- you may ask.
There is no doubt. It is a grand bed- a grand ivory tusker bedstead
(kOttukAl-kattil) and surrounded by lady statues made of gold whose hands
hold the lighting lamps. There is soft, tender, cool, fragrant, white and
beautiful mattress and you are sleeping on top of it. Also, Nappinnai= who
has most beautiful dark, dense black tresses adorned with fragrant flowers,
has her huge curvy breasts pressed and pushed onto your large chest. Or you
are pushed to that position to have them on your chest.

People say: nappinnai kongai mElvaitthu kidantha malar maarbhan- The One who
has his divine chest on the breasts of Nappinnai. We can say: Nappinnai
kongai “mElvaitthu” kidantha malar maarbhan. The One, who has the breasts of
Nappinnai PiraaTTi on His chest. – Why have you put yourself into this
trouble?

Are you both here to protect the devotees? Or to hug each other like this?
When so many of us are seeing, you both should not be like this- this is not
right. thatthuvamanRu.
When KaNNan was about to speak, he did notÂ…
KaNNA! Tell us. Are you afraid of someone? If she scares you, at least when
she turns other side, show your Hands “abhayam” or just utter “dhattham
abhayam” in two words. We came to requested you, Nappinnai as Purushaakaaram
and you have forgotten us completely. We will ask her now. Oh large eyed-
beautiful Nappinnaai! Did you actually go inside and plead for us (as we
requested in last verse)? He would not have bushed aside us-had you pleaded?
He is dayAsaagaran. What maayam did you do? Have you forgotten to inform Him
of our arrival? Even if we come to your place (Srivaikuntam), looks like it
will be like this only or what? Or is it that you are now alone unlike
Srivaikunatam where BhU, Neela will all be there and hence you grabbed the
opportunity. Have you? You are quenching your thirst in KrishNA anubhavam it
appears.

You are well equipped with many features to capture Him completely.
Sarvaanga laavaNyam (beautiful ThirumEni in totality); Your dark, curly,
dense tresses, which are long touching the heels; the divine fragrance
naturally with that tresses; the large curvy tender youthful breasts; the
beautiful swan like gait; the ever smiling face; the large well laid out
ruddy lined darting collyrium (kaajal) applied eyes; smartness; the words
that come out of your mouth at right time most appropriately and sweetly and
above all, the strength of your divine body qualified to enjoy the strength
of KaNNanÂ’s ThirumEni

Why should He not be yours? Naturally He would be. When and what will He
think of poor us? What has happened to His kaaruNya (compassion)? Have you
hidden it somewhere? Are you scared that he would talk to us something else?
We have come to You both, surrendering your lotus feet, with no other refuge
than you both only. We are helpless. Please have mercy on us. You should be
His dharma pathnI and should correct him saying that he needs to commit to
what he had promised. He should accompany us. If you do not want to
accompany Him, fine. Leave Him to us; Show Him and send Him. Like the
elephant Gajendran, we will yell, and He will rush to us. He is
ParamakaaruNikO Bhagawaan.

hEy! Malarmaarbha! Divine large chested Lord (where the flower Mahalakshmi
resides)! What you are doing is not correct. What she does (not leaving him)
is also not right. (tatthuvamanRu). Elders that day- assembled and asked us
to start this nOnbu- Puja. They also asked you to accompany us. You signed
in agreement as well. Today you are not even nodding your head. This is not
right. Nappinnaay! Do not crush Him with those mountains and leave Him. Come
and start dharma kaaryam.

[The other interpretation of their lying down and not coming- as I had read
in other book- few years ago: Nappinnai was requested in 18th verse.
(undhumadhakaLiRran). She goes inside and utters the word about Gopikas.
KaNNan innediately feels elated and rushes from bed. Nappinnai being more
merciful mother and more compassionate, wants to tell this to Gopikas that
He is ready and He will join them soonest. So, Nappinnai rushes to open the
door and come out to inform. KaNNan wants to see them first and show Himself
to them as they are His dearest devotees and Prapannans. He longs for them
as they long for Him. So, He pulls her from behind and rushes. Nappinnai
pulls Him down and closes His mouth so that He wonÂ’t open His lips to
announce His arrival. She can announce. KaNNan does the same. In the
process, they are pushing each one and pulling each one down; closing their
jOthivaay. GopikAs are disappointed and are envious mistaking that they are
playing and hugging each other.]

Please read from vidwAns' commentaries about other greater details- Srimath
Azhagiya singar ends with such great humility. anything good - the credit
goes to the divine commentary of SrI Mukkur Azhagiya Singar's. Errors,
faults are only due to my lack of understanding.
