Srimathe Nigamantha Mahadeshikaya Namaha Hi, Let me tell how exactly this is done. Based on the type of Utsavam, we decorate the Processional deity (Utsava Murthi). It happens like this, based on the type of Alankaram, we have Hasthams(Hands Moulds) and padams(Leg Moulds) in different postures. The processional deity is decorated with these like anyother ornaments.Around the hasthams and Padams, we tie up a beautiful vasthram (Cloth). But during the Prathistapanam of the Uthsava Moorthi, the Hasthams and padams also go through the routine of prathistapanam. I know this because I come from a family of Priests. Before Joining WIPRO Technologies, I was working as a Priest in Bangalore Any Queries Mail me back.
