Dear BhakthAs: 

Sri RanganAtha Temple at Pomona , NY will conclude 
the Thiru Adhyayana Uthsavam related festivals today
and welcome the UttharAyaNa PuNya Kaalam and Makra
SamkramaNam .

Makra SankarAnthi ( Thai Pongal ) festival is linked
to our salutation to Soorya NaarAyaNan . Our Lord 
resides at the center of the orbit of Adhityan (Sooryan)
and confers Paavanathvam to the 12 Adhithyans .The entire
Soorya NamaskAra Prasnam covered earlier by adiyEn 
is a Vedic salutation to Sriman NaarAyaNan seated at
the center of Soorya Mandalam . The Soorya Prabhai
Uthsavam included in the BrahmOthsavam at many temples
underlines this Tatthvam .

After Thiru Adhyayana Uthsavam, Sri RanganAthA Temple 
will be celebrating many special Uthsavams like 
Panguni Utthiram, VaikAsi VisAkam ( Swamy NammazhwAr
Thirunakshathram ) , Prathishtai of AchAryAs at
their new sannidhis , Prathishtai of ChakkaratthAzhwAn
in His special Sannidhi and  Nrusimha Jayanthi .

During the  Memorial day weekend ( May 25-26, 2002) 
the Prathishtais and  Sudarshana Homam will take place.

Plans are also underway to initiate the First AnnamAchArya 
(Vardhanthi) celebration in the East Coast at Sri RanganAthA
Temple, Pomona , NY. Ahobila Matam's revered Jeeyar is
invited by Thirupathi-Thirumalai DevasthAnam temple
to take part in this special festival there every year.
There is a reason for it .

Talapaakka AnnamAchArya ( 1408-1503 C.E) was one of the key
disciples of the First Jeeyar of AhObila Matam, Sri Adhi VaNN 
SaThakOpa YathIndhra MahA Desikan(1379-1458 C.E) . With the blessings 
of the Lord of Seven Hills and his AchAryan , AnnamAchArya composed
Bhakthi-laden SankIrthanAs (32,000?) in Teleugu and Sanskrit
and performed Naama KusumArchanai and anjali to the Lord of 
ThiruvEngadam and Sri LakshmI Narasimhan . 

Sri VenkatEsa Annamaarya Society of North America (Svasa)
head quartered in California celebrates annually the Vardhanthi 
celebrations to this divine Bard in West Coast(www.savasa.org).

The RanganAthA temple of Pomona plans to work closely with
TT DevasthAnam , CMANA and  SVASA to initiate the Vardhanthi 
celebrations in the East Coast during this year's  Memorial day 
week end . Lectures , Musical offerings from Annamayyaa's krithis
and a dance drama on the life of AnnamaachAryA will be
part of the celbrations under planning in cooperation 
with the Carnatic Music Teachers from East Coast and
travelling VidvAns . Sri MalOlan Cadambi of Iowa will be 
joining me to plan this special celebration for 
the SankIrthanAchAryA , who is very dear to 
Sri VaishNavite SampradhAyam .
