Sri:

SrimatE Gopaladesika MahadesikAya Namaha,

Dear Bhaktas,

On this day, adiyen wishes to share the tributes of H.H. Sri
Rangapriya Mahadesikan Swami to asmadhAcharyan, H.H. Sri Paravakottai
Andavan Swami.

H.H. Sri Rangapriya Mahadesikan, was completely mute as a child.
He could not utter a single word until the age of 5. One day his
parents took the child to a Kalakshepam by H.H. Sri Srinivasa
Mahadesikan Swami, the founding Acharya of Srimad Poundarikapuram
Ashramam. This Mahan was known for his Jnana, Bhakti, Vairagya, and
Mantra Siddhi. Upon completion of the upanyasam, the child ran up to
the Acharya upon which the Acharya enquired "Un Per Enna?". The
child's parents explained the boy's plight at which time, the Acharya
uttered Swami Desikan's Taniyan "Sriman Venkata NathArya: ..." in the
boy's ears. He then uttered the opening verse of the Hayagriva Stotram
in the child's ears. Lo and behold! The child reproduced these
flawlessly. The Acharya was filled with joy and blessed the child
stating that he would go on to become a Parama JnAni and a Parama
Yogi. The child who received the Anugraham of the founding Acharya
of Srimad Poundarikapuram Ashramam is now the great Acharya, the
great Yogi who is the head of the AshtAnga Yoga VijnAna Mandiram in
Bangalore.

H.H. Sri Rangapriya Mahadesikan has been closely associated with
Srimad Poundarikapuram Ashramam and its Acharyas starting from the
founding father. His work entitled "Sankshepa Guru Charitram" is
a marvellous eulogy to the successive Acharyas of Srimad
Poundarikapuram Ashramam, starting from the first to the Prakritam
Acharya, H.H. Paravakottai Andavan Swami. H.H. Swami Rangapriya
Mahadesikan and H.H. Sri Paravakottai Andavan Swami were
contemporaries at Parakala Matham. Both Acharyas have tremendous
respect, regard, and affection for each other. H.H. Sri Rangapriya
Mahadesikan Swami served as the chief patron for the 150 TN
celebrations of the founding father of Srimad Poundarikapuram Ashramam
in 1997. It was adiyen's good fortune to serve under the direction
of H.H. Swami Rangapriya Mahadesikan in this Kaimkaryam. H.H. Sri
Rangapriya Swami is serving as a patron again for the 81st TN
Kaimkaryam of H.H. Sri Paravakottai Andavan Swami. H.H. Sri Rangapriya
Mahadesikan Swami pays glorious tributes to H.H. Sri Paravakottai
Andavan Swami through the following Taniyan (laudatory verse):

thasyOthara aDhikAri mangalakAri mahAmathi yathirAt
paravakottai sujam srimad gopala desikO jIyath

In this line (of Srimad Poundarikapuram Ashramam) came as an Acharya,
the one who was born in Paravakottai, named Srimad Gopala Desika
Mahadesikan, who spreads auspiciousness everywhere, who possesses
matchless intellect, and who is an emperor among Sanyasis. Victory
to him!
