The above observation is consistent with the former's interpretation. However, the Tenlkalai's consider only Sriman Narayana to have the power to grant moksha. The status of Sri is purely that of a Mediatrix. She occupies a position between the Lord and the Acharya. There are works by Sri Periyavaccan Pillai, that goes into details of the nature of Sri and the relationship between the Acharya, Sri and the Lord. In a very simple terms, Thenkalai's view is that of Fatherhood/Motherhood/Sonhood - where father is Lord Narayana, Mother is Mahalskshmi (Sri) and Soul is equated to Son. In this scheme, only the Father has the power to grant moksham.
