    SRI ANDAL KIZHI VAIBHAVAM AND KAIMKARYAM

We all know that Sri Andal adorns a parrot on her left shoulder.Some information regarding the
Kizhi on Sri Andal's left shoulder are as follows

SIGNIFICANCE:It is said that Sri Suka Brahma
Rishi went as a 'thoodu' (messenger) to Sri
Rangamannar being assinged a task by Sri Andal.
           After the successful completion of
the mission ,Sri Andal told Suka Brahma Rishi
that he could ask for any boon from Her.Sri
Suka Brahma Rishi replied that in the form of
a parrot he would always like to be beside Sri
Andal.

KIZHI KAIMKARYAM AND SAMARPANAM TO SRI ANDAL
AT SRIVILLIPUTTUR.
Everyday one kizhi(parrot) is prepared and offered ,which adorns the Left Shoulder of
Sri Andal at Srivilliputtur.This is currently
being done by Mr Raman and is a parampara
kainkaryam of their family.The Various materials
used for the preparation of the kizhi are

1.Mathalampoo            -for mooku(nose)

2.Ezhuyelai              -for Udal(body)

3.Nandhiyavattai Yelai   -for Rekkai(wings)

4.Kaka ponnu             -for Eyes

5.Sevva Arali Mottu      -for decorating the tail

6.Vellai Arali           -for  the tail

7.PanaOlai               -for supporting
the structure.

8.Vazhanar               -To tie the leaves and other materials appropraitely so that they stay in position.


               It takes more than 4 hours to prepare the parrot and only after the parrot is given in the Evening the thiruvaradhanam takes place.
