thirup pAvai - part 52 - nArAyaNaNan namakkE - "for ours only"
Dear bAgawathAs,
So long we have been seeing the nAmam "nArayaNaNE"
and its meanings, superiority, speciality, the EkAram, its
inner meanings and the implied patham as "nArAyaNan oruvaNE"
and its justifications. The word "nArAyaNaNE" is also seen
with respect to us the Aaychiars or "namakkE" as well. We all
(Aaychiars) have to seek the blessings from "nArAyaNan
oruvaNE". We have to avoid annydEvathAs and this may also be
seen as a reference to prathi koolya varjanam. ie., The word
nArAyaNE or "nArAyaNan oruvaNE" is also meant that HE alone
is the "para deivam" & our (Aaychiars) parama purushan. Those
of us who are observing this nOnbu must seek blessings only
from HIM.
In tamil the word "nAm" is a plural and stands for the
english word "we". The word "nam" stands for "our" and
"namakku" stands for "for ourself". The word namakkE stands
for "Only for ourselves". ie., the EkAram brings in the word
"only" in addition to "nAm". We can see that the word "only"
is definetely a direct meaning for this word "namakkE", while
it was not a direct meaning for the word "nArAyaNaNe". The
word "namakkE" can be meant in two different way as well.
Since we have dealt the meaning of "nArAyaNan alone or
nArAyaNan only" or "nArAyaNan mattumE" in the earlier part,
we will deal the meaning of "For ours only" which is a
contination to the previous part. However, We will deal
"the main" meaning for the word "namakkE" in the next part.
The patham "For ours only" or "only for ourselves"
or "nammkku mattumE" is used as "namakkE" in spoken tamil
often. "nArAyaNaN namakkE, nAm nArAyaNaNukkE". ie This EkAram
is also seen by some as an expression for conveying an
"EkabOga Urimai" for themselves. ie., They want to claim
exclusive and sole proprietorship for each other by citing
this EkAram at the end. nArAyaNan is only for us and we are
meant only for HIM. As a creator HE owns us all. As a
patthini we own HIM for ourselves. We are very possessive of
HIM and HE is very possessive of us.
