dear bhagavathaas,

As all of you know, due to emperumAn's, pirAtti's,
AzhvArs' and AchAryAs' krupa, we were able to contribute
$2900 from the bhakti list for the purposes of publishing
the 6th paththu of thiruvAymozhi with the various
vyAkhyAnams of our pUrvAchAryAs. Sri. PuththUr svAmi is
very very excited about this, and it is indeed our great
bAgyam that we, in America far removed from our sampradAyam,
have the opportunity to take part in this kainkaryam. Great
indeed is His grace, that allows us to use the very thing
that takes us all away from Him - material pursuits - in
being a part of the sampradAyam and getting closer to Him.

This reminds me of the srIvacanabhUshaNam sUtram in the
tripAth vibhUthi prakaraNam that says (and I am quoting
part of the sUtram)-

'...samsArikaL pakkalilE thiruvuLLam kudipOy ivarkaLaip
pirindhAl ARRamAttAdhE ivarkaLOdE kalandhu parimARukaikku
karaNa kaLEparangaLaik koduththu, avaRRaik koNdu vyAparikkaikku
IdAna sakthi vishEshangaLaiyum koduththu, kaN kANa niRkil
ANai ittu vilakkuvArkaL enRu kaNNukku thORRAdhapadi, uRangukiRa
prajaiyay thAy mudhukilE aNaiththuk koNdu kidakkumApOlE, thAn
aRindha sambandhamE hEthuvAka vidamAttAdhE agavAyilE aNaiththuk
koNdu, Atchiyil thodarchchi nanRu enRu vidAthE saththaiyay nOkki
udankEdanAy, ivarkaL asath karmangaLilE pravarththikkumpOdhu
mItkamAttAdhE anumadhi dhAnaththap paNNi......'

Sri. PiLLai lOkachchaariyAr says:
emperumAn is very distressed at His separation from the jIvAtmAs.
He is very sad on seeing us samsAris wallowing in samsAram here.
So, he gave us the body and intelligence with which we can choose
to do good deeds and perform kainkaryam to Him. He is afraid that
if we all know that He is trying to be with us, we, in all our
agnyaanam will reject Him. So, He tries to be with us just like
a mother who is embracing her child without waking it up. When we
do bad things, He gives us the anumadhi to do that in the hope that
He can find in all of our bad deeds, one deed that He can claim to
be a good deed that He can use to save us.

The sUtram goes on to say how emperumAn uses things like saying
His name unintentionally, saying His place unintentionally...
is viewed by Him as something that we said towards Him. (eg. A
thief says 'I want to go rob XYZ's house in thirumalai' - emperumAn
uses this as 'This chetana said thirumalai - he is talking about my
place' and saves the chetana.

Great indeed is His grace that allows us to use the material
gain that we obtain from pursuits that take us away from Him
in His service.


The following is excerpts of sri.PuththUr svAmis letter to us.
Sri. PuththUr svAmi also has published about the thiruvAymozhi
effort in the editorial of this months srI vaishnava sudharsanam.

ingu nidhi paRRAkkuRai kAraNamAga bhagavadvishayam 10
paththukkaLaiyum, mEl adayavaLaindhAn arumpadham pramANath
thirattu (2 vAlyUmgaL) AkiyavaRRai evvARu niRaivu seyyap pOkiROm
enRu eNNi irundhapOdhu thAngaL anaivarum munvandhu seydhuLLa
udhavikku nanRi solla vArththaikaLE illai.

When I was worried about how I was going to finish the publication
of the 10 paththus of thiruvAymozhi and the 2 volumes on
adaiyavaLaindhAn arumpadham pramANath thirattu, you all helped
in this effort. I cannot find words to thank you all for that.

vegu dhUram senRu uddhiyOgam pArththAlum, nIngaL anaivarum
nam sampradhAyaththil iththakaiya IdupAdu koNduLLadhu emperumAnin
katAkshaththAlEyE. nam dharisanaththil nIngaL anaivarum koNduLLa
IdupAdu, pramANangaLAi vaLarkka udhavi seyyum manappAnmai
Akiyavai menmElum vaLarchchi adaiyavum, unGaL ellOrukkum
sakala sowbhAgyangaLaiyum aLikka vEndum enRu srI ranga divya
dhampathikaLaiyum, srI pangajA nAyaki samEdha srI puNdarIkAkshanaiyum
prArthikkirEn.

Even though you all are doing jobs very very far from here, the
involvement tha you all have in our sampradhAyam is entirely due to
emperumAn's grace. I pray to srIrangam divya dhampathis and
sri pangajA nAyaki samEdha srI puNdarIkAkshan that the involvement
you all have in our dharisanam, and the willingness to help
to propagate the pramanams of our sampraAyam grow. I also pray
to them to give you all all  sowbhAgyams.

6m paththai kUdiya viraivil mudiththu, 7m paththukku thEvaiyAna
nidhi udhavi paRRiyum munnadhAkavE ezhudhukirEn.

I will finish the 6th paththu with full speed. I wil also
write to you in advance about the financial details for
the 7th paththu
