Dear Balaji, Please add this to the host of comments already been made by other revered members of our group: Your anger is understandable. You feel let down. We tend to be a bit more idealistic at younger ages. Gradually idealism gives way to reality. It is a part of growing up. Having said that, I do realise that part of your anger is also due to what we all have been fed. We are reluctanct or unable to comprehend the relation between the TRUTH and the TRADITION. Thus, there hasn't been any serious house-cleaning to arrive at a pragmatic balance between truth and tradition. This everyone of us have to come to grips with in their own way (Like Marl Twain said: Get the facts and distort it as much as you need to!). Thus we have a system that tends to confine us to a life of guilt and limitaions. We should never forget that Truth is eternal, and tradition is temporal. Truth should not be made to or interpreted to limit or belittle us in any way or else it would amount to tail wagging the dog. First be greatful to all our grand masters for saving the WHOLE for us. Free yourself from the limitations imposed by tradition and grow to fully rejoice the truth without guilt or blame. Lord Krishna beautifully identifies this: ta-ttva-vit tu ma-hA-bA-hO gu-Na-ka-rma-vi-bhA-ga-yOH | gu-NA gu-NaE-SHu va-rta-nta i-ti ma-tvA na sa-jja-taE ||28-3|| The knowers of the relation between attitudes and actions; and how they are impacted by the world we live in, are free (not bound). dAsan K.
