Sri:
Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Guru Paramparaayai Nama:
Sri Jn~yaanaabdhi Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala
Yatindra Maha Desikan (1607 - 1618 ACE)
---------------------------------------------------------
Following the Adhipatyam of Sri Vedanta Yativarya
Brahmatantra Parakala Maha Desikan as the Jeer of
Sri Parakala Matham from 1583 to 1607 ACE, the
mathAdhipatyam was handed over to the most scholarly
Sri Jn~yaanaabdhi Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala
Yatindra Maha Desikan.
Sri Jn~yaanaabdhi Parakala Maha Desikan, during his
times, is known to have authored many sampradaayic
works that added more luster to the Srivaishnava
philosophical library. Following his sankalpam and command,
his student, Sri Rangaramanuja Swamy, also authored great
sampradaaic works like Bhavaprakasha, Dashopanishad Bhashya,
Vishayavaakyadeepika and Ramanuja Siddhanta Sara Sangraha.
Another great disciple of this acharya was Sri Vatsya Ahobilacharya,
a grihastha (householder) who authored a detailed commentary
on the Nalayira (4000) Divya Prabandhams.
The then Mysore ruler Sri Maharaja Raja Wodeyar got the
sacraments of pancha samskaaram and Saranagati administered
on him by Sri Jn~yaanaabdhi Brahmatantra Swamy and
obtained his anugrahams. This acharya graced the peetham till 1618 ACE.
His taniyan reads as follows -
"vEdaanta yativaryaapta vEdaanta yugaLaashrayam |
jn~yaanaabdhi brahmatantra shri parakaala gurum bhajE ||"
By this time, the Mysore rulers were no more subordinate to the
Vijayanagara Rulers and had established an independent kingdom
of their own.
Jn~yaanaabdhi Parakala Maha Desikan was succeeded by
Sri Veeraraaghava Yogindra Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala
Maha Desikan.
Sri Veeraraaghava Yogindra Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala
Maha Desikan. (1619 - 1640 ACE)
---------------------------------------------------------------
This acharya's taniyan runs as follows:
" jn~yaanaambudhi brahmatantra parakaala mahaagurO |"
avaaptaturya vandEham veeraraaghava yOginam ||"
Sri Varada Vedaanta Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala
Maha Desikan. (1641 - 1652 ACE)
----------------------------------------------------------
Sri Varada Vedanta Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Maha
Desikan succeeded Sri Viraraghava Yogindra Parakala Swamy in
the year 1641. This acharya continuing in the path of his predecessors
made many contributions to Sri Vishishtadvaitha sampradayam.
The twelfth king, Sri Maharaja RaNadhira KanTeerava Narasimha
Raja Wodeyar (1639 - 1660), is stated to have received the
sacraments of Sri Vaishnava Diksha at the hands of Sri Varada
Vedanta Swamy. The king having given lots of contributions to
the Sri Matham, passed a resolution (recorded in the epigraph of
Mysore 1938 pg 113) that at Thirunarayanapuram during the
prabandha parayana goshti, the psalm "ramanuja dayapaatram ... ...
vande vedanta deshikam" composed by Sri Brahmatantra
Swatantra Maha Deshikan on 18-8-1338, the first yatishvara acharya
of Sri Matham, shall be recited, just like the way it has been done
since the times of Raja Wodeyar. The recitation of this psalm
was approved by Swamy Deshikan himself and also has been
endorsed by Lord Thiruvarangan Himself. This acharya graced
the acharya peetam till 1652. His taniyan runs as follows -
"veeraraaghava yOgindra vishEsha karuNOkshitam |
namaami mUrdhnaa varadavEdaanta munipungavam ||"
