Dear Sri Mani,

What I had heard is:
1. KooratthAzhwAn, (when ordered by the kirumikaNTa chOzhaking, to his guys 
to pluck KooratthAzhwAn's eyes for his "dhrONamasthi thatha:param") plucked 
and removed his eye balls by himself. (can't even imagine, Mani, the torture 
our Kuresan underwent.. He did that saysing "Having committed a sin of 
seeing such a guy (who had ordered and poked the eyes of Periya Nambhi and 
blindede him) my eyes do not deserve to see anything else..

2. When ordered (or appealed) by his AchArya Ramanuja to go and ask the Lord 
for eye sight, he could not disobey (though he did not want to ask anything 
from Emperumaan), and asked NOT for Physical eyesight. BUT for the jnAna eye 
sight, saying "Give me the sight as is seen by Nithyasooris." (and asked 
also for Nalooraan- the traitor..) Thus AzhwAn got his Divya chakshush..
