Hello everybody in this net, I am new to this group. I am a master's student at University of Cincinnati. I am interested in knowing more about the vaishnava sampradaya, the path of knowledge and bhakthi to attain mukthi. A few words about what I know and what I intend to learn in the future. I have studied that advaitic commentaries on 16 upanishads by some swamiji's of Ramakrishna mutt, many books of Swami Vivekananda. I have also studied some works of Parmacharya (Sri Chandrasekharenda Saraswati of Kanchi mutt). Even though I am a "Vaishnava" by caste I feel that I know more about Advaita. I feel ashamed that I know nothing about Vishistadvaita and Dwaita which concentrates on bhakthi to lord narayana. I heard from a gentleman that the main aim of a vaishnavite is to go to all the 108Divya desams. Without any thinking, I thought that this should be my aim irrespective of whether one can attain mukthi or not because of this. Hence, I started going to these divya desams and now I have completed around 39 divya desams. Many of the shrines in the South India like thirunangur (11 divya desams in and around it) are in a poor state. My main aim is to improve the situation regarding temples, (like daily poojas, upliftment of the bhattar family etc) other than attaining the knowledge that will lead to Satchitananda. That is all about my background. I thank Sri.Mani Varadarajan for including me in this net. WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
