PURPOSE OF VISIT In the pAsuram "kEzh vAnam" purpose of visiting is enquired. The visit is the purpose of visit,is the response. How, can the visit itself be the purpose of visit? When we go places, we go with a purpose. When I go to market, I do not go for the purpose of undergoing the exprience of going the market, but for procuring things. Similarly, when we go outstation on vacation on sightseeing the purpose of visit is basically to visit the tourist spots. However, here it is mentioned that visit itself is the purpose of visit. How? Generally visit is for a purpose other than that of travel, touring or visit. Here, the aim of the visit is such that it generates immense passion and zest towards the end in a way that it creates multifold interest and inherent expectatins in the visit. The visit or the experiences of the visit in itself gives utmost satisfaction akin to the end of the visit. How? Two examples are given in the commentaries. I.archirAdhi mArgathaip pOlE: When the soul beigins its ultimate travel towards the srE vaikuntam, the soul enjoys the expectation, the way as that justifies the majestic and macro end. 2. When we go to dhivya dhEsams: When we go to dhivya dhEsam-s , especially thirumalai, we plan early, which generates expectations, the travel, the planning, the preparatory stages and the travel itself is immensely interesting which is matching to the end of the visit. Hence, visit can be in itself a purpose when it matches the value of the end. That is what is stated in this pAsuram " pOvAn pOginRAr" . These gopikAs are going for the purpose of going. The going itself give them pleasure. It gives them the company of the bhAgwadhAs. No doubt, visit itsellf is the purpose of visit. vAnamAmalai padmanAbhan [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] -------------------------------------------------------------- - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Group Home: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bhakti-list Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ Your use of Yahoo!
