Post 30 Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer, In this post we will see naamaas of sree Vishnu sahasra naamam, having the common thread of "yagnam" the sacrifice and phalan - the fruits obtained by doing the yagnam like rain, food etc. In sreemadh bhagavath geetha, sri krishna bhagavaan says - annaadh Bhavanthi Bhoothani parjanyadh anna-samBhavah yajnaadh Bhavati parjanyo yajnah: karma-samudBhavah (bagavath geethaa 3.14) meaning: - from food arise all beings (i.e., their bodies); from rain food is produced; from sacrifice comes rain and sacrifice springs from activity. a. the yajnam - the sacrifice: 1. Om sipi vishtaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 274 occurring in slOkam 29 Meaning: [sipi is the sacrificial cow] - one who sanctified all dedicated offerings in the yajnaas - he who pervades the rays of the sun. 2. Om sama yajnaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 360 occurring in slOkam 38 Meaning: One whose worship [yajna] is nothing more than keeping equal vision of the mind by the devotee. - the knower of conventions and time. 3. Om havir harayE nama: -- naamaa no. 361 occurring in slOkam 38 Meaning: he who takes the offerings in the sacrifices - receiver of oblations. 4. Om mahaa Bhaagaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 372 occurring in slokam 40 meaning: the extremely fortunate - one enjoying happiness of high order - one taking greatest share in all yajnaas. 5. Om Dharma yoopaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 439 occurring in slOkam 47 meaning: who is rigidly united with Dharma - the very essence behind Dharma. [yoopa is the post in which the sacrificial animal is tied in the yagnaas- sacrifices] 6. Om mahaa makhaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 440 occurring in slokam 47 meaning: he who is a great sacrifice , - all sacrifices dedicated to him confer total liberation from bondage. 7. Om yajnaaya nama: -- naamaa no.446 occurring in slOkam 48 Also naamaa no. 971 occurring in slOkam 104 Meaning: for - 446 - the sacrifice For 971- he who is himself the sacred yajna - the sacrifice. 8. Om sathraaya nama: -- naamaa no.450 occurring in slOkam 48 Meaning:he who is the sacifice and and worshipped through the sacrifice. 9. Om mahaa krathavE nama: - naamaa no. 680 occurring in slokam 72 meaning: the great sacrifice - one who is worshipped by easy means and not great sacrifices - the yajnaas. 10. Om mahaa yajvanE nama: -- naama no. 681 occurring in slokam 72 meaning: one who performed great yajnaas - whose worshippers are very superior. 11. Om mahaa yajnaaya nama: -- naama no. 682 occurring in slokam 72 meaning: he whose worship itself is the greatest yajna. [japa yajna is glorified by krishna as supreme and hence he is maha yajnaaya nama:] 12. Om mahaa havishE nama: -- naama no. 683 occurring in slokam 72 meaning: one who is worshipped with supreme oblations - himself is the great offering 13. Om yajna pathayE nama: -- naamaa no. 972 occurring in slOkam 104 Meaning: he who is the lord and presiding diety of the sacrifice and confers the fruits of the performance of yajna. 14. Om yajvanE nama: -- naamaa no. 973 occurring in slOkam 104 Meaning: he who is himself the performer of the sacrificial ritual. 15. Om yagna angaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 974 occurring in slokam 104 meaning: one whose limbs are the things employed in the sacrifices - yagnams [such as vEdham and yoopam] 16. Om yajna vaahanaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 975 occurring in slOkam 104 Meaning: he who enables the performers of yajna to carry out the yagna with physical ability, piety, and the responsibility for the same. 17. Om yagna BhruthE nama: -- naamaa no 976 occurring in slOkam 105 Meaning: one who brings all sacrifices to their fruition despite the deficiencies. 18. Om yajna kruthE nama: -- naamaa no.977 occurring in slOkam 105 meaning: one who performs yajna, - one who created sacrificial rites in the beginning for prosperity of the world. - [jagath hithaaya yajnam aadhou srujathi ithi yajnakruth] 19. Om yajninE nama: -- naamaa no. 978 occurring in slOkam 105 Meaning: he for whom the sacrifices are performed. 20. Om yajna BhujE nama: -- naamaa no. 979 occurring in slOkam 105 Meaning: the enjoyer and protector of the sacrifices. 21. Om yajna saadhanaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 980 occurring in slOkam 105 Meaning: he who is the accessory for the sacrificial ritual. 22. Om yajna antha kruthE nama: -- naamaa no. 981 occurring in slOkam 105 meaning: one who makes the realisation of supreme being as the end of the successful sacrifice. 23. Om yajna guhyaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 982 occurring in slOkam 105 Meaning: he, who is the very secret of all sacrifices. 24. Om ijyaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 447 occurring in slOkam 48 Meaning: the object of worship - Fit to be invoked through sacrifice. 25. Om mahaa ijyaaya: -- naamaa no. 448 occurring in slokam 48 meaning: he, who is the object of superior worship, which is not sullied by desire for other fruits. 26. Om krathavE nama: -- naamaa no. 449 occurring in slOkam 48 Meaning: the object of all types of sacrificial acts. Om amrutha asanaaya nama: -- naamaa no.819 occurring in slOkam 87 Meaning: he who enables his devotees feed on his nectar like qualities one whose desires are never fruitless. 36. Om sOmapaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 505 occurring in slOkam 54 Meaning: one who partook the ambrosia [the soma juicewhich is the sacrificial offering] in the holy sacrifices performed - who drinks soma juice in sacrifices. 37.
