Dear BhakthAs and VedAbhimAnis around the World: It gives me great joy to share with you the wonderful news about the plans to have SaaRRumuRai for Thaitthireeya Upanishad class of Kuwait is being planned for Decemeber 20 at Kuwait City. The Adhyakshar for the class is SrIman I.V.K.Chary Swamy , who hails from both the acharya vamsams of ArasANippAlai (Vaikunta Vaasi Desika Bhaktha rathnam , SevA Swamy and Kaanchipuram TaatAchAryas ). The significance of teaching ThaittarIya Upanishad for "the beginners " as SrI I.V.K. Chary Swamy put it has tremendous significance , once we begin to appreciate the enormous importance of this Upanishad to define Brahman . adiyEn does not have the "KuRai onRum illai GovindhA " monographs of Vaikunta Vaasi , SrI MukkUr GanapAdi Lakshmi NarasimhAcchAr Swamy . adiyEn is sure that this MahAn must have commented on the significance of this Upanishad as it relates to VisishtAdhvaitha Darsanam. If any one is returning from Chennai and can bring me a copy of this monograph , adiyEn will be grateful . As adiyEn mentioned before , there are plenty of monographs on Advaithic intrepretation of this and other key Upanishads . VisishtAdhvaithic intrepretation enshrined in SrI BhAshyam and the commentaries by SrI RangarAmAnuja Muni of 16 th century and others based on the above ( , Vaikunta Vaasi Sri U.Ve. UtthamUr Swamy , Dr.S.M.S Chari's monograph on the Philosophy of Upanishads , Dr.N.AnantharangAcchAr Swamy most recent release on the "selections from Upanishads ) are not widely known. It is thus wonderful to know that the above are welcome additions to the source works on Upanishads in English according to our sampradhAyam. adiyEn will post one or more essays on the key passages of TaittirIya Upanishads based exclusively on the excellent translations and commentaries of Drs. S.M.S. Chari and NSA Swamy in preparation for the Dec 20 SaaRRumuRai planned at Kuwait City by Dr.S.M.S. Chari and SrimAn Sudarshanan and all the participants of this adhyayanam group. Some other VedAdhyayanam related news: (1)At SrI RanganAthA temple , Pomona , NY , we are having the anugraham of ThiruviNNagarapppan to have a new Archakar , who is a poorNa adhikAri on Yajur veda Samhithai and Dhivya Prabhnadham. This archakar by the name of SrIman Varadhan will be beginning adhyayanam classes shortly at the temple for VedAbhimAnis here. Santhai for Dhivya prabhandham will also start. It is all SrI RanganAthA's anugraham and Swamy VedAntha Desikan's and all AchAryA's anugraham. (2)It is also my pleasure to add that SrIman SatakOpa TatAchAr Swamy of Kaanchi Veda adhyayanam ghOshti is doing Yajur Veda PaarAyaNam at Thuppul Swamy Desikan Sannidhi daily duirng his vacation unitl January 1, 2003. It is woderful to know that Swamy NigamAnthA Desikan is listening to the Yajur Veda Samhithais at this time. May He bless us to hear other three samhithA PaarAyaNam at His sannidhi in the future . SrImath Azhagiya Singar Thiruvadi , Oppiliappan Koil VaradachAri Sadagopan Dear Bhagavathas, >Thaithhireeya Upanishath classes in Kuwait are coming to a close in about a week's time. All commencements have to have conclusions also. We wish to have this conclusion day function to be a pleasant, memorable and divine experience and seek the blessings of Thiruvengadamudaiyaan, in whose name this e-group is christened, for the same. >It may not be out of place to retrace the history of these classes. It all started, to be precise in Jan 2000, when I came to Kuwait on a visit to explore this city as to its suitability for my way of life before committing for an assignment which was offered to me. During that visit I had the good fortune of meeting Sriman Sudharsan, a good friend of mine from our Bahrain days. At that time, Sriman Sudharsan has put me a condition that I am welcome to Kuwait only, I repeat, ONLY, if I am willing to teach--- >After coming to Kuwait in mid June to take up my present assignment and settling down, Thaithireeya Upanishad classes commenced in mid October 2000. Initially we had 4 vidhyaarthees. The sankalpa visesham of Sriman Sudharsan, the driving force behind these classes, is such that the number of Vidhyarthies grew from time to time to reach the present strength of 12 today. The beauty of theses classes is that, the strength was only growing and there was not a single drop out. It was bhagavath anugraham that--- It took us over 2 years to complete the Thaithireeya Upanishath. It may look like a long period and it is so too, but most of the vidyarthees are new to veda recitation and added to that they are not proficient enough in Sanskrit as well. Vaikunta Vasi Sriman Mukkur Lakshminarasimhachariar writes in his book Kurai Onrum Illai that Krishna Yajur Vedam is very difficult to learn. Some may wonder why Thaithireeya Upanishath for such beginners. My reply to them would be what else than this Upanishath which sp As I said earlier, these classes are coming to a grand finale. Such a finale has different names in different circles. In cinema/drama field they call it Preview show, in Music and Dance circles, they call it Arangetram, in Academic arena, they call it Graduation/Convocation Ceremony and in Sri Vaishnava parlance it is Satrumurai. Yes, the SATRUMURAI for Thaithhireeya Upanishad Classes is scheduled to take place here in Kuwait on 20th December, 2002, Friday, with the blessings of Divya Dampathies, at Adiyane's apartment. The programme commences at 9.00 AM with the recitation of Thirupalliezuchi and Thiruppavai. At 9.30 a.m. starts the recitation of Thaithireeya Upanishad (Seekshavalli, Anandavalli, Bhriguvalli and Narayanavalli). Then, Bhagavaradhanam for Adiyane's Gruha Salagrama Moorthies. During Punar Manthrasanam, the last anuvaakam of Narayana Valli is offered to Divya Dampathies at their lotus feet. Then Thiruppavai Satrumurai, Vaazhi thirunamam, theertha prasada viniyogam follows. At the conclusion of this prog I venture to quote again here Vaikunta Vaasi Sriman Mukkur Lakshminarasimhachariar from his Kurai Onrum Illai book. Swamy writes: " Vedic recitation has to be learnt by all those who are eligible for it. It is better if they also know the meaning of veda manthras. If one has time and facility constraints, he should atleast learn the recitation. If even the learning of recitation is not possible, then atleast listen to the recitation. Never adopt a stand that mere listening to vedic recitation is of no use. When it comes to the efficacy and bestowing the fruits, veda manthras does not differentiate between those who have underst I invite all Members of Thiruvengadam Group residing in Kuwait to attend this programme with their family and friends and derive the Sravanaanandham (listening pleasure) of Veda Sabdhams and get the blessings of Veda Purusha. >Looking forward to your participation, >I.V.K.
