Hi ! this is Sandeep from bangalore. eventhough i am a sri vaishnavite, i know very little of sri vaishnavism. would love to know more about it. reading all the messages, queries is educative. but i find most of the queries asked going above my head. anyway - that's how we all learn. i wud like to know more about the origin of sri vaishnavism. all this while i used to think it is Ramanujacharya who was the founder - but i heard that he only propogated it in a big way - it was there even before him -it seems it was the result of the 12 alwars. is this right ? and also - only 2 of these alwars were brahmins - the rest were non-brahmins ( i'm not making any bias ! )- but their devotion to god was so much that they attained salvation. if anyone could throw more light on this i'd be very glad. who were these alwars and how did they become alwars ? -------------------------------------------------------------- - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ Your use of Yahoo!
