THE FIRST ADHYAYANA UTHSAVAM (THIRUVAIMOZHI THIRUNAALL / SWAMY NAMMAAZHWAAR MOKSHAM ) AT SRI RANGANATHA TEMPLE

Sri RanganAtha ParabrahmaNE Nama:

In an earlier note , adiyEn has described the plans for
the above magnificent uthsavam at the one and only temple for
Lord RanganAtha and Sri RanganAyaki in the Western hemispere.

As is well known NamperumAL is very fond of listening to Dhivya
Prabhandham (Tamil Vedam ) and the whole Adhyayana Uthsavam
was organized by Thriumangai Mannan to address this need of 
the Lord of Srirangam. Swamy Naatha Muni , Swamy Alavandhaar ,
His son , Thiruvaranga perumAl Arayar and AchArya RaamAnujA 
continued this tradition that thrives until today.The Arayars 
provided Saathvika abhinayam to the moving paasurams
of AzhwArs during this occasion . We are trying to recreate 
number of the traditional Srirangam observances at the RanganAtha
Temple at Pomona , NY (Saturday , Dec 22, 2001 to Tuesday ,
January 1, 2002).  

Sri S.Rengarajan and other Board Members of the temple
are making progress in the follwing areas:

1. Arrangements for the participation of authentically
trained Dhivya prabhandha GhOshti from Kaanchipuram and 
Chennai/ThiruvallikkENi .

2.Arrangements for the particpation of the expert in
Arayar Sevai from California to have Arayar Sevais on
key days .Arayar Sevai is known as KoNDAttam or major 
celebration since it is really Mutthamizh Kalai KoNDAttam.
The Arayar sings the paasuram in the right PaNN , performs
abhinayam for that Paasuram and gives the meaning according to 
TampirAn PaDi. It has been understood that Thirumangai Mannan 
was the first Arayar , who sang and performed abhinayam for
ThirunedumthANDakam Pasuram in front of the Lord of Srirangam. 

3.Arrangements are being made to bring from India the Vasthram
adorned by Lord RanganAthA of Srirangam for use during 
the special Thirumanjanam here on Dec 29 ( Swamy NammAzhwAr 
Moksham day) . The Eera Vaadai Theertham ( the sacred water 
with sambhandham to the Lord's ThirumEni ) from Thirumanjanam 
that day will be very special. Swamy NammAzhwAr will also
have the special Thirumanjanam that day. 

4. Two day NaamA Confernces ( Dec 222-23 and Dec 29-30 )
will take place during this time at the Temple. Presentations
on Dhivya Prabhandham matters , Bhajans as well as quizz program 
for children have been included in these sessions.

5. Arrangements are being made to host out of state visitors
at local host's homes. 

6. PerumAl PrasAdham will be distributed to all devotees
on all the days of the Uthsavam.

7. Many baskets of Thulasi are being brought in from
Connecticut and California for use during Swamy NammazhwAr
Moksham day. 

8. Efforts are underway to identify VeeNA players , who can 
perform before the Lord during EkAntha SEvai and other occasions
during the Uthsavam as at Srirangam .If you know of any
artists, please let me know.

9. On December 26, Vaikunta Vasal will be opened at 5.30 A.M
and Sri RanganAthan will offer His Sevai as Sri VaikuntanAthan 
as visualized by AchArya RaamAnujA in His Sri Vaikunta Gadhyam. 

10. Special prayers will be offered during midnight of Dec 31 to 
hail in the New Year and the Special web pages for Sri Sudarsana
BhagavAn will be released.

We would like to invite you ALL WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS 
to take part in this FIRST ADHYAYANA UTHSAVAM AT LORD RANGANATHA'S 
TEMPLE at Pomona , NY. Please contact Srimathi Nagu Satyan
or myself regarding accomodation or visit plans early.

We need to raise some funds for this large Uthsavam that
focuces on the 108 Dhivya Desams and the MangaLAsAsanam of
the 12 AzhwArs on the dhivya Desa Moorthys. Any amount of
support is welcome and Your samarpaNams should be sent to
Sri Ranganatha Temple , 15 Old Route 202 , Pomona , NY 10970.

Please let me know about your individual pledges so that I can
keep track of these samarpaNams. adiyEn pledges $250 towards
this Uthsavam . adiyEn will be happy to explain how I arrived 
at " this magic number of $250" below. I wish I could give more.

Here are some ways that you can help by earmarking 
Your samarpaNams to one or other Kaimkaryams:

1. There are 108 Dhivya Desams sung by the 12 AzhwArs.
You can link up with individual dhivya desams such as
your birth place ( Anbil, Srirangam ,Thiruppathi ,
ThiruviNNagar et al) . I am earmarking $100 for 
my native Dhivya Desam , ThiruviNNagar. Multiple
sponsoorship of individual dhivya desams are
also welcome.

2. There are 12 AzhwArs , who will be recieving
MaryAdhai from the Dhivya Dampathis . You can 
earmark samarpaNam for individual AzhwArs or
multiple AzhwArs. I have earmarked 50$ for 
Madhura kavi AzhwAr MaryAdhai as my humble 
samarpaNam.

3. There are 4000 Paasurams that will be recited from
the 25 Prabhandhams during this Uthsavam. I have 
earmarked 50$ for the  assembly of Prabhandhams. 
You may wish to earmark individual Prabhandhams 
of particular AzhwAr or AzhwArs this way.

4. Anna dhAnam ( PerumAL prasAdham preparation and
distribution ) during the Uthsavam for sevArthis. 
I have earmarked the remaining 50$ of the 250 $ pledge
for this area. We have a special cook , who is serving
in the Lord's kitchen (MadaippaLLI ) and he will attempt
to prepare special offerings to The Lord that are unique to 
Srirangam . Srirangam has its usage of unique names for 
NaivEdhyams such as Uppu ChaaRu , the MiLaghu Kuzhampu 
offered as NaivEdhyam to Sri RanganAyaki at night. 
There are other sweets that are uniquely used at 
Srirangam Temple as well . We will start this process 
of preparing and offering Sri RanganAthA's age old
special delicacies such as adhirasam . 

5. You can earmark your samarpaNams in the name of your 
AchAryAs also. 

Please give generously to cover the special expenses
of organizing this special uthsavam. All of your
contributions are Tax Deductible. 

We are in need of $10K ( 250$X 40 BhakthAs or
100$X 100 BhakthAs would be two possibilities).
