Dear Sri Ranganatha BhakthAs: On this Kaarthigai Kritthigai , PourNami day when we celebrate Our Kaliyan's Thirunakshathram , it is my bhAgyam to invite you all to participate in the Adhyayana Uthsavam at Lord RanganAthA's Temple at Pomona , NY. It was Kaliyan , who organized the Adhyayana Uthsavam at Srirangam by bringing Swamy NammAzhwAr's archai from AzhwAr Thriunagari and celebrated the uthsavam with reverence for the anugraham of Swamy NammAzhwAr . On this day , it is very appropriate to think of Kaliyan and his AruLiccheyalkaL and announce the plans for this year's adhyayana Uthsavam at Lord RanganAthan's temple here.Vedupari Uthsavam involving the great moment in the life of Kaliyan is also part of this Adhyayana Uthsavam . On the 7th day of Raa Patthu at Srirangam , Swamy NammAzhwAr through assembled BhsakthAs will recite " Kangulum Pahalum " in the role of ParAnkusa Naayaki and beg the Lord movingly for His darsanam . ArchakAs will bring the Lord in Kaitthalam and present Him before the joyous NammAzhwAr. PerumAL will then proceed to the MaNTapam to enjoy the Arayar Sevai Paasurams in front of Swamy NammAzhwAr dressed as ParAnkusa Naayak. Next day at Srirangam is Yettaam ThirunAL, when vEdu PaRi uthsavam,which turned the life of Kaliyan inside out takes place. PerumAl will rush in Turaga Gathi to Garudan Sannidhi and Thirumnagai will intercept for burglary of jewels . PerumAL will perform upadEsam of AshtAksharam for Kaliyan and transform him to the status of Thirumangai AzhwAr and receive the "VaadinEn Vaadi VarunthinEn" paasurmas. On the final day of Raa Patthu will be Swamy NammAzhwAr Moksham after Thiruvadi Thozhal takes place to a climactic conclusion of Mey kalatthal ( nesam seythu unnOdu yennai uyir vERanRi onrAhavE koNDAi ). Swamy NammAzhwAr's attainment of Saayuya Moksham is enacted to the roar of " MuniyE NaanmuhanE MukkaNNappA " pasurams. Invitation to Adyayana Utsava and NAMA Conference at Sri Ranganatha Temple December 22, 2001 - January 1, 2002 Pagal patthu and irAppaththu celebrations sandwiching Sri Vaikunta Ekadasi is one of the most important festivities in Sri Rangam. The ten days preceding Sri Vaikunta Ekadasi are called Pagal Paththu and ten nights that follow are called Irappatthu. During this time recitation of Dhivya Prabhandham (also called Tamil Vedas) in front of Lord Sri Ranganatha at Sri Rangam is very special. For the first time Sri Ranganatha Temple is planning to replicate this experience at the one and only anganatha Temple at Pomona, the Sri Rangam of North America. The Adhyayana sevai will begin on 22nd December 2001 and continue until 1st January 2002. During this time , he entire 4,000 Dhivya Prabhandham will be recited. n addition, there will be Veda Parayanam, recitation of esika Prabhandham, Desika Sthothramala Gadya Thraiyam, Sthothra Rathnam, and much more, all in front of Lord Sri Ranganatha. Devotees from all across the U.S. will be joining in the festivities. The highlight of the utsavam (festival) is the Sri Vaikunta Ekadasi on 26th Dec and the recitation of Swami Nammaazhvar's Thiruvaaymozhi and observance of Sri Nammaazhvar moksham on 29th December. The festival will be celebrated from December 22nd to Jan 1st 2002. The festival will culminate with the celebration of Sri Nammazhvar Moksham in a grand manner on 29th December 2001. There will be NAMA Inc Annual Conference on December 22nd and 23rd, and again on 29th and 30th. There will be youth forums conducted during this conference and cultural programs. Other attractions include Mohini alankaram on 25th December; vEdu pari and Sri Adivan Satakopan puRappAdu on 28th December. We invite all devotees to take advantage of this unique opportunity to participate in Thiruvadhyayanam right in front of Sri Ranganatha.
