Sri Raamajayam SrimathE GopAla DEsika MahA DEsikAya Namaha Dear Bhagavathaas, It was AdiyEn's intention to share the joy of "Maayanai Mannu Vada Mathurai" Paasuram celebrations at our home, and not generate any unpleasantness amidst members on the Bhakthi list. Also it is not AdiyEn's intention to force my personal belief's on other members, which I leave to the Sri Vaishnava Scholars, our "Learned and Practicising Sri Vaishnava Acharyas" and ofcourse the desire/Vairaghyam of the members to hear/understand and assimmilate Sri Vaishnava SampradAyam. AdiyEn merely capped the summary of the day. As for specific questions addressed by Sri.Mani, 1.U.Ve.Sri.Hari had performed a simple Araadhanai at his home, before he brought the Kutti Perumaal to our residence. In fact Swamin was telling me the same message, for which AdiyEn was passionately enquiring about the Pramaanas and Poorvacharyas dictum on the issue. Now that Swamin has mentioned our Acharyas views, AdiyEn am left with no doubt on Sri.Hari's message to AdiyEn. Thanks Mani. 2.As for Ganga/Yamuna/Kaveri issue, AdiyEn's personal view is, let us not get into needless debates into which river is purer(similar to a previous episode on Bhakthi before, where Bhagavathaas tried to identify the best Divya Desam). No river can be purer than the Daya Sagaram of the Divya Dhampathis. Same for the Divya Desam(Paramapadam). The message(rasa Dvani) of the Upanyaasam was to keep our purity in thought and action without "Ithara Devathaa Samandham", which can distract Prapannas. Hope AdiyEn have clarified these issues, without having to generate counter threads on this topic. AdiyEn Sri Raamanuja Daasan, Sudarsana Dasosmi >>Message: 7 >> Date: Wed, 20 Dec 2000 18:35:11 -0800 >> From: Mani Varadarajan>Subject: Re: Maayanai Mannu Vada Mathurai.... Dear Sudarsan, Nice to hear of the vibrant activity in Singapore. I have a couple of observations, if you don't mind: (a) The normal order of events during mArgazhi mAsam is FIRST the usha: kAla visesha ArAdhana, including tiruppAvai recital and only then the prAta: sandhyA. The reason for this is that the visesha ArAdhana is done before sunrise, so it belongs before the sandhyA (clarified by Srimat Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami). (b) The criticism of the Ganga river sounds rather harsh. I would consider it a privilege, as nearly all Vaidikas do, to bathe in the same water that touched the body of a great bhAgavata such as Siva. When Sage Vishvamitra was guiding Rama and Lakshmana through the forest, Valmiki Maharishi writes: bhavAnga-patitam toyam pavitram iti paspRSuH | They bathed in the waters [of the Ganga] considering it pure because of contact with Siva's limbs [ SrImad rAmAyaNam, bAla-kANDam ] Perhaps it is 'na hi nindA stuti', but still a little bit troublesome.
