But in thanjAvur district, the underground water table is very near and one can easlily pump water from the same tank bottom and fill it as well. But it needs initiative from the local people living in those villages. A motorpump may cost under Rs 15000 with a simple pump house structure. The eroded banks may need to be reconstructed and the tank has to be cleaned. These works may cost Rupees 250,000 to 500,000. But more than the money, it needs people to take initiative and care. It will be even more helpful if bAgawathAs, "notice" these shortfalls and report in this media, in addition to reporting the "kuRais" such as reading the text in gOshti etc. Please choose a temple at your home town and participate in it by any way you can. adiyEn pleadged to help atleast 5 temples including my hometown temples of Lord Sri Amudhan and Sri Oppiliappan during my trip is some way or the other. Some of the divya dEsams are situated in villages that donot have anynore SrivaishnavAs left. Example Sri Anbil. It was so sad to see that a drunken fellow lying down at the very entrance of this temple & we had to cross him to goto the temple at Sri Anbil. It seems they donot even have a good locking facility in the temple such that the perumAL goes to Sri Rangam where all the jewels of this temple are safekept. ie., this Lord Sri Sundararajan of SriAnbil visits Srirangam once in a year for a special ursavam and wears his jewels there and leaves them there and come back after the ursavam. By the way as similar to nava thirupathis Sri Anbil temple was renovated very recently (many thanks to Srirangam devasthanam) and the samprOkshanam is scheduled in late August. This is common in some of the temples chola nattu divya desams too. Many of the Srivaishnavas have migrated in 60's & 70's. Please encourage if you know any of your elders who are natives of these temples and are now retired and are able and living in cities to atleast visit (Some may even move to these places) and participate and involve in the temple kainkaryams very frequently. Some need not listen to youngsters especially after living an urban life for many years and as well for many of their own personal reasons. But nothing can prevent one from visiting these temples very frequently. If you can, please also spend your money for them (elders) to travel and let them know that you are fully intended to support these temples in anyway you can. Even if 9 TVS groups can reconstruct all these divya desams, and if no one is visiting them frequently, then it is a going to be deserted.
