Dear Ms. Devika, I have attempted to give a rough translation of the nammAzhvAr pAsuram that Mr. Ramani referred to. I have some questions about it too. Could somebody in the group clarify my doubts... The pAsuram: ------------ yAvaiyum yavarum thAnAy avaravar samayam thORum* thOyvilan pulan ain^dhukkum solappadAn uNarvin mUrththy* Avi sEr uyirin uLLAl AdhumOr paRRilAdha* bhAvanai adhanaik kUdil avanaiyum koodalAmE. -thiruvAymozhi 3.4.10 A rough Translation ------------------- Even though, perumAL - in his jnAna svarUpam, exists in all the chEthanAs and achEthanAs, he doesn't interact with their physical characteristics. Our happiness, sorrow etc do not bind him and he cannot be felt by the five senses. We could reach him if we realize the fact that perumAL exists in all of us and still is not bound by / doesn't associate with our physical or emotional attributes. uNarvin mUrththy - PerumAL in his jnAna svarUpam yAvaiyum yavarum thAnAy - exists in all chEthanAs(yavarum) and achEthanAs (yAvaiyum) avaravar samayam thORum thOyvu ilan - He is not bound by our various physical/emotional attributes ... My Doubts: ---------- How is the word 'samayam' interpreted literally in "avaravar samayam thORum thOyvu ilan" What exactly does "thOyvu" mean?. Sri PBA explains it as "yAdhoru kalappum illAdhavan" Thanks in advance, Sincerely, -Viji (Vijay Triplicane) -------------------------------------------------------------- - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list@yahoogroups.com Group Home: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bhakti-list Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ Your use of Yahoo!
