CLARIFY PLS
From the Bhakti List Archives

Dear Friends, Namaskaram Could anyone tell me the difference between Janmashtami and Krishna Jayanthi. My parents told me they will be celebrating Krishna's Punya Janam on 11th September, but most of India celebrated on 12th August. Why such differences in Hindu Calender itself?? It also baffles me why there such a rift between Vadagali and Thangalai, even today. For example in Thiruallikeni Parthasarathy Temple, it seems quite serious, and most of time it is out of ego and its meaningless.
