Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear Mani, Bala Sri.Mani has pointed out an interesting anecdote on Priya Nambi(Also called as Prankusa Dasar) He was born in 997-98 AD and was one of the five Acharyas of Sri Ramanuja. Swami Desikan Salutes him in Yahiraja Sapthathi for saving our Sampradayam by intiating Swami Emberumanar to Sri Vasihanva fold by intiating Pancha Samskarams to him. Before his death, Sri.Maraner Nambi , one of the disciples of Swami Alanvadar requested Periya Nambi that his funeral rites should not be carried out by his non Vaishnava relatives and he should take responsibility for doing them. Sri Priya Nambi, had great respects to Sri Maraner Nambi and performed funeral rites to him . Many Brahmins questioned this action and Sri Periya nambi was ignored in all the temple activities. While this was on, one day ,Sri Ramanuja asked Nambi in private what made him to do Brahma Meda to Sri Maraner Nambi, Nambi said that, 1. King Yudishtra performed rites to a lowly born Vidura 2. Sri Rama performed rites to Jadayu. And he (Peria Nambi) was neither bigger than Sri Rama or King Yudishtra nor Marener nambi was any way lower to Jadayu or Vidura. Maraner nambi was in fact one of the learned sishyas of Swami Alavandar and he is all right doing these rites. Nambi was in fact epitome of humility. A similar sentiment is echoed in Sri Vachana Bhushanam. It is said that Bhagavata Abhacharam(Sins towards Bhagavatas) are many. Out of them the most deadlier sin is differentiating one Sri Vasihan to other according to their birth.
