Dear Bhagavatas: The one mentioned by Sri Kalale is known as "Payatham mudichu" in Tamilnadu (or something like that elsewhere) and used to be employed by Sishtas in the past, so far as my knowledge goes. If "Brahma mudichu" is on one side the "Payatham mudichu" would be on the opposite end and this would efectively reduce the length of the yagnopaveetham to the desired length. The best bet would, however, be the one recommended by Sri Sdagopan.
