Sri:

Srimathe Gopaladesika mahadesikaya Namah:

Dearest Sisters and Brothers,

Today is SrI Jayanthi- our Kutti KaNNan’s “Happy Birthday.”. We need to
celebrate it, paying obeisance and surrendering to His little red lotus
Feet. ThirumangaiAzhwAr comes to our rescue singing now Kutti KaNNanÂ’s
pAsurams (switches from rama avtaar to kriishNa avtaar).

The scene: YashOdhA finds herself waiting for the little;e darling of hers
to come in and drink her milk. Kutti KaNNan is about 1 to 1-1/2 years old
(let us assume). He still drinks ammAÂ’s milk (as the children used to drink
till about three years)

She calls Kutti KaNNan, who is playing probably outside, to come in and have
her milk. Enjoyable ten. More so, today. (toddlers generally call food and
milk as “ammum- or mummum. AzhwAr uses the word “ammum”.)

1. Oh ParipoorNanE! (Due to NandhanÂ’s being blessed with a Divine Child like
You) Oh my sweetest darling, who is like the nectar for my enjoyment! Our
Kula nAthA! KaNNA! Drink my breast milk that will do good to You. Come
running eagerly with your black flower bedecked hair on Your Head dancing
(due to the speed of your run). Take my breast, (full of milk), in your
hand, place it in Your mouth and drink.

2. Oh NambhI (PaoorNanE), the One who is of the form of wavy ocean! Ruddy
lined large eyed SelvamE! (My darling!) Red lotus (like) mouthed KuttI! My
breasts have been engorged with milk. Even after I have called You, I have
not seen You. Where and what are You playing with those cowherd children?

3. NambhI (PoorNanE!, the One who plays on the streets with cowherd boys who
are equally rich and beautiful (like You)! I thoroughly enjoy Your play on
those streets with all those mischief that You perform! The milk is coming
out of my breasts and is getting wasted. Come to my lap, take the breast in
Your mouth and drink dear.

4. All men and women in the world perform “thapas” (penance) to be blessed
with a good child. That thapas itself has become a personification in You,
darling, who is the Cause of the Universe! Oh male elephant like KuttI! I
will catch the crescent moon from that red sky (twilight) and give You to
play with. Come and sit on my lap, and desirously drink my breast milk.

5. My son, who has the collyrium (“mai”) like dense, dark hair! The one who
crawled (walked) between the two trees! One who performed most wonderful
acts! The One who can eat any amount of butter (veNNai) without spilling!
Such greatest Lord! This milk secretion and breasts engorgement- I cannot
endure any longer. PurushOtthamA! Eat “ammum” (milk). The One who measured
the Universe! Come, eat “ammum”.

6. You donÂ’t do what Your aged Boys do. (They cannot even walk straight- You
walk along with mortar and went between the trees). You have “kapatam”
(mischief) in your heart (unlike other children- You are a “chOr” (thief)).
Even while seeing and looking at You, You cheat and do some mischievous,
wonderful deeds. (maayaavI!). My heart melts and breast milk flows out. Do
not show signs of sleep- come and drink milk.

7. NambhI, the one who sucked the life itself along with the breast milk of
the cunning Poothanai, who came with a “fake”, pretending motherly love. Oh
Divine Consort of the most feminine Nappinnai PiraaTTi and BhUmi PiraaTTi!
My darling strong son! Eat my “ammum”.

8. If You do some mischief, You father will get angry. And I am even capable
of hitting You with a stick in my hand to cause pain on Your ThirumEni
(Divine Body). When Your cows come back in the evening, the Devas from the
sky are flabbergasted as to how much wealth we have. Come inside before they
cast their evil glance on You. Also, the evening is the time for asurAs to
gain more strength. Hence, do not stand there, outside. Come darling, the
One who has ChakrA in Your resplendent hand! Come here.

9. Oh Chief of Cows! My SwamI! The most merciful NandhagOpanÂ’s son! Yuva
raja (Prince ) for all our relatives! Most Auspicious, grandest, greatest
One! The One who goes to the forests for rearing groups of cows! Male
elephant (like strong One)! My son, who gives me greatest pride and
happiness! Why are You here without drinking my breast milk?

10. Most beautiful shouldered Kailyan, has sung this excellent ten pAsurams
(that has got all grammar and qualifications of removing the samsaaric
afflictions). This ten is on YashOdhA PiraaTTiÂ’s pleading Kutti KaNNan,
saying, “Come and eat “ammum”. Those who recite (or read) this ten, with
interest, will be considered on par with Nithyasooris.

Our hugs and kisses to our darling Kutti KaNnan.
