RE: Propogating Hinduism

Ms. Shuba and other members,

I can rightly expect the Acharyas to say that as far as the matams and
temples are concerned, there are clearly laid down procedures and *everyone*
will be expected to follow them, regardless of their background.

However, practically, as we all know, many (both Sri Vaishnavas and non-Sri
Vaishnavas) do show up in attires of their choice. The Acharyas or the
temple bhattars do not deny them access but only restrict them to some
level, when it is absolutely necessary. This should NOT be considered as
*approval*, but a polite reminder as to what is expected. It is up to the
individuals to take cognizance of this and reflect appropriately, as they
become regulars.

For new comers, it does take some time to adjust, but as with everything
else we should get used to it, and as we go along, respect and follow the
guidelines - and help preserve the tradition/culture. There is one important
thing that we should keep in mind here. Our Acharyas respect the tradition
and are properly attired, always, no matter what - regardless of health,
weather or location. We should reciprocate the same, at least when we visit
them to seek their blessings. It is that simple.

Thanks,
Sriram

Subject: Propogating Hinduism

Dear Devotees,

A general question to all about propogating our religion -

What if a non-brahmin sincerely wished to learn more about our
traditions? Should he be denied? If we insist on madisaars and
panchakachams, will it be for the brahmins only while non-brahmins
are allowed to visit in other clothes? What do our Acharyas say in
this regard? Thank you for clarifying my doubt.

Respectfully,
Shuba
