Srimath Azhagiya Singar ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam Dear BhakthAs: Madhura Kavi AzhwAr extolls further the greatness of Swamy NammAzhwAr in his eighth paasuram: " aruL koNDAdum adiyavar inpuRa aruLinAn avvarumaRayin poruL aruL kondu aayiram inn tamizh pAdinAn aruL kandIr ivvulahinil mikkathE" Srimath Azhagiya Singar's AruL MozhikaL(Continued) ************************************************** **ThiruvAimozhi and adiyavar (BhAgavathAs) Madhura Kavi says that it is not only for me that adiyEn's AchAryan composed ThiruvAimozhi , but for all Future BhagavathAs , who are Jn~Ana-nishta SaathvikALs. That is the Vaasi ( svabhava dayai) of VaguLAbharaNar ( Swamy NammAzhwAr). He did not create ThiruvAimozhi to please or gladden the heart of BhagavAn (Sarva Seshi), but only to make Saathvikaas (Sesha BhUthars)joyous. "aruL koNDAdum adiyavar inpuRa , aruLinAn avv-arumaRayin poruL" are Sri Madhura Kavi AzhwAr's Sri Sookthi. Swamy NammAzhwAr blessed us with the true meanings of the Sanskritic VedAs thru his Tamizh ThiruvAimozhi. When the Sesha BhUthAs acquire that Tattva Jn~Anam , they become Jn~Anis and become very dear to the Sarva Seshi (****).These Jn~Anis become the aasraya bhUtharkaL of Tattva Jn~Anam or the abode of that rare Jn~Anam. They adopt Sesha Vrutthi and develop the SvarUpa Jn~Anam that kaimakryam to Lord and fellow BhaagavathAs alone is parama purushArtham . These are the" AruL koNDaadum adiyavarkaL" . The arul that they celebrate is the DayA GuNam of the Lord as a result of being blessed with Jn~Anam by Swamy NammazhwAr. They do not pay heed to any other guNams of the Lord other than His dayai. Swamy Desikan salutes this dayai and its mahimai in one of the dayA sathaka slOkams as the unique one which destroys in a fraction of a second all the paapams accumulated in 10,000 Brahma Kalpams. At this point , Srimath Azhagiya Singhar mentioned that the ThiruvAimozhi was created for the Bhavishyath AchAryan (Future AchAryan), namely , Swami Desikan , who in turn acknowledged with gratitude Swamy NammAzhwAr's anugraham through the construction of Nigama ParimaLam , DhramidOpanishad Saaram and Taathparya rathnAvaLi granthams dealing with the inner meanings of ThiruvAimozhi . Srimath Azhagiya Singar concluded this upanyAsam on this pradhOsham day with two truisms to think about: (1) When there is no KrupA (DayA) guNam , the rest of the GuNams are akAryakaram (useless)(#). (2) Asakthanudaya Krupai BhAthakam (harmful) and Sakthan's Krupai is Saadhakam (most beneficial). In His next UpanyAsam , HH Sri NaarAyaNa YathIndhra MahA Desikan will be commenting either on the final line , "aruL kandeer ivvulahinil mikkathE" or delight us with other VyAkhyAna karthA's commentary on the 8th paasuram or take up the next(ninth) paasuram. adiyEn encourages one and all to participate in these eye-opening upanyAsams and be blessed by the upanyAsa amrutha taarai of Srimath Azhagiya Singar and comprehend the unique AchArya Bhakthi of Madhura Kavi AzhwAr. At the most beautiful pair of Thiruvadis of the emperor of our Kulam , Swamy NammAzhwAr adorned with fragrant VakulA flower garland , adiyEn salutes those holy feet with my head. ***Swamy Desikan's tribute in UpakAra Sangraham: "anthamilA pErinbham arundha yERkkum adiyOmai aRivudanE yenRum kaatthu munthai vinai nirai vazhiyil ozhuhAthemmai munnilayAm Desikar tamm munnE sErtthu manthiramum manthiratthin vazhiyum kaatti Vazhippadutthi vaann yERRi adimai koLLa Tanthai yena ninRa Tanit ThirumAl thALil talai vaitthOm SATAKOPAN ARULAALE ----Mudal AdhikAram of UpakAra Sangraham (Meaning): We bow unto the matchless thiruvadigaL of ThirumAl solely due to the Krupai of Swamy NammAzhwAr, who made us fit to enjoy the measureless aanandham of Moksham , who protected our eternal Dharma bhUtha Jn~Anam , who saved us from being swept away by the ancient torrent of karmaas by placing us at the feet of sadAchAryans , who in turn initiated us in to Thirumanthiram and Prapatthi UpAyam and then helped us climb the steps to Sri Vaikuntam for nithya Kaimkaryam to Sriya: pathi. **** Sri Bhagavath GeethA: Chapter 7 :17-19 thEshAM Jn~Ani nithya-yuktha yEka-bhakthirvisishyathE priyOhi jn~Aninothyarthamaham sa cha mE priya: --Geethai: 7.17 (Meaning): Of these (four), the Jn~Ani (the man of Knowledge) , is ever with Me in YogA and devoted to only Me. He is the foremost to Me among the four types of people , who worhip Me. I am very dear to this Jn~Ani and he too is very dear to Me. udhAra: sarva yEvaithE Jn~Ani thvAthmaiva mEmatham aasthitha: sa hi yukthAthmA maamEvAnutthamAm gathim --Geethai: 7.18 (meaning): All these four are geenrous in their worship , but I deem the Jn~Ani to be My very self; for he , integrated , is devoted to Me alone as the parama purushArtham (highest end). BahUnAm JanmaNAmanthE Jn~AvAn maam prapadhyathE VaasudEva: sarvamithi sa MahAthmA Sudhurlabha: --Geethai: 7.19 (meaning): After many , many births , the Jn~Ani finds refuge in Me , fully realizing that " VaasudEvA is every thing ". It is rare indeed to find such a great-souled person in this world. # Swamy Desikan's DayA sathaka SlOkam extolling the greatness of DayA Devi: Vrushagiri GruhamEdi guNA: BhOdha-bala-aisvarya sakthi mukhA: dhOshA bhavEyurEthe yadhi naama DhayE thvayA vinA bhUthA: --DayA sathakam: SlOkam 15 (meaning): OH dayA devi! If Thirumalai VenkatEsan's (Your Lord's) Jn~Ana-Bala- Sakthi-Veeryam-Isvarya-Tejas guNams were to be separated from You , then all those Six guNams will only become dhOshams and not kalyANa guNams. When those guNams are united with You (DayA Devi) , then Your power will be in ascendance and all the other guNams will join forces with You and protect the chEthanAs from Your Lord's anger over their limitless trespasses . Because of this glory, You are the supreme one among the Lord's GuNAs.
