Sri K. Srinivasan writes: * Anyway, many English books on Life of Ramanuja contain distorstions. * If the episode is not in the above three books, it should not be * considered authentic. * You are right that many English books contain distortions. However, there is one more set of sources that provides biographical details about Ramanuja. This are the commentaries on the Divya Prabandham, particularly the 24000 on the thiruvaaymozhi by Periya Vaachaan Pillai and the 36000 (eedu vyaakhyaanam) by Vadakku Thiruveedhi Pillai. Each contain some episodes about Ramanuja not found in other works. Perhaps, time permitting, Prof. Vasudha Narayanan can enlighten us on some of these, as she has studied them in some detail. Mani
