SrI: Dear BhakthAs around the world : Please accept my best wishes for a Happy , Healthy SvabhAnu Year in service to the Divine Couple and His BhaagavathAs ! Happy New year ! At the beginning of the just completed ChithrabhAnu Year , adiyEn wrote about the Vedic references to the name of CHITHRABHAANU : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SriRangaSri/message/1259 In that article , adiyEn referred to "ChithrA " having the meaning of a clear, bright , varigated , wonderous entity that strikes the eye and other senses in the context of the Roopa, Svaroopa , GuNa asccharyams (mysteries) of SrIman NaarAyana.adiyEn also mentioned that BhAnu means either SUN or an object of beauty or a ray of light .The Vedic meanings of "Chithra Bhaanu" were assembled from Rg veda manthrams to develop our understanding of the dawn of Chithra BhAnu year as being assoicated with Aadhithya MaNDala Madhyastha SrI Lakshmi HayagrIvan , who removes the dark clouds of Aj~nAnam (nirdhUtha tama: anushangAm ) and facilitates the blossoming and growth of divine knowledge (prabhOdha rajeeva vikasitham) . Our Jn~Anam transforms from its shrunken state ( Sankuchitham) to the fully blossomed state ( Vikasitham) as revealed in the 21st SlOkam of SrI HayagrIva SthOthram. The banishment of Aj~nAnam and the nourishing growth of divine knowlege leading to Moksham is indicated by the name ChithrabhAnu given to last year. In the cycle of 60 years associated with our calendar , the Year SvabhAnu follows ChithrabhAnu . Let us reflect on the Vedic and Upanishadic significance of the name " SVABHAANU " and seek SrIman NaarAyaNA's anugraham for a joyous and peaceful world in this just-born year . May He fill our thoughts with His Svaroopa-Roopa-GuNa vaibhavams and lead us out of darkness to the path of His divine effulgence ! SvabhAnu Naamam **************** Vaikunta Vaasi SevA Swamigal in one of his poetic works describes the SvabhAnu year as : " SvabhAnubhi: SvabhAvathO VibhAthi tEjasAm pathi:" The JyOthirmaya tEjasvi , the base and the Lord of all lights , SrIman NaarAyana seated at the center of the orbit of the Sun ( MaarthANDa MaNDala Madhyastha Soorya NaarAyaNan) shines as Svayam JyOthi. He is the Self-luminous JyOthi (Svayam JyOthi) principle associated with SvabhAnu. The third BrahmaNa of the fourth chapter of BrahadhAraNyaka Upanishad named as JyOthir- BrahmaNa has detailed discussion on ParamAthmA as Svyam JyOthi shining with SvabhAnu as the aadharam (base and support ) for the different states of wakefulnesss , dream , deep sleep without dreams and TurIya. adiyEn refers you all to the outstanding treatise of Dr.S.M.S. Chari on " The Phiolosophy of Upanishads " relased during ChithrabhAnu year regarding details on this Svyam JyOthi concept . This Svyam JyOthi shines inside us as the indwelling Purushan besides being at the center of the orbit of the Sun: Tasya MadhyE VahnisikhA aNIryOdhvA vyavasthitha: nilatOyada madhyastha vidyur lEkEva bhAsvara nIvAra Sookavat tanvIpItAbhAsyAttanUpamA Tasya SikhAyA madhyE PARAMAATHMAA vyavasthiTatha: Sa BrahmA Sa Siva ; sENdhra: sOkshara: Parama: SvarAD --MahA NaarAyaNa Upanishad: Manthrams 99 , 100 and 101 (Meaning according to Dr. N.S.AnantharangAcchAr Swamy): In the midst of that (DaharAkAsam) , there is a flame of fire , which is very subtle and rising above , which is shining like a streak of lightning in the midst of a blue cloud , which is very subtle like the tip of a grain , which is SELF-LUMINOUS and which is incomparable. The Supreme Self is established in the midst of that flame . He is BrahmA , SivA , Indra , the liberated Self , the most celebrated Master of Karmaa ( The Supreme self is the inner Self of Brahma , Indra, Siva and all). " Just as the streak of lightning in the midst of a dark cloud pervades all around and shines out , in the same way , Goddess Lakshmi having the effulgence of gold , though situated in the chest of the Lord (AlarmEl Mangai uRai Maarbhan) , betwixt His arms pervades the body of the Lord with Her brilliance .She appears as though She has the auspicious form of the Lord in the midst of Her effulgence". adiyEn will elaborate on the SvayambhAnu Tatthvam of this Svayam-JyOthi , ParamAthmA with the help of additional Veda Manthrams and Upanishad Vaakyams. adiyEn concludes this posting with a prayer for all for auspiciousness in this brand new SVABHAANU SAMVATHSARAM : SvabhAnu Naama SamvathsarE , UttharAyaNE , Vasantha Ruthou , Mesha MaasE , Sukla PakshE , ThrayOdasyAm puNya tithou , Indhu Vaasara , Poorva Palguni nakshathra yukthAyAm , asyAm Chaithra vishu puNya KaalE , Bhagavantham , SrIman NaarAyaNam , aparimitha dhivya BhUshaNam , Rathna Kavacha Noothana aabharaNAlankrutham , SrI DevanAtham , aanandamayam NamAmi.
