As I continue the task of documenting Shri SadagOpan's music collection that
he so generously has donated for charitable purposes, I wanted to make a
small personal comment and thank the Lord and his consort of thiruviNNagar
as I feel extremely blessed this first day of navarAthri.  Today happened to
be particularly special, as we (my wife Smt. VaidEhi and I) had the good
fortune of Shri T. V. Shankaranarayanan sing at my humble residence in front
of shrI BhUmi dEvi samEtha shrI uppiliappan as a most auspicious beginning
of this navarAthri.  If yesterday's concert at MIT was outstanding, my mind
has been filled and my ears ringing sonorously of the shrIman nArAyaNa
sankIrthanam that he presented before the Lord today at our place.

Coming back to the primary task at hand, I have received quite an
overwhelming response for the first posting I had made on this topic. 
Please help keep the enthusiasm high.  I will try to maintain a two day
turnaround on all request for tapes.

The price on the tapes are listed against the Title.  Please contact me if
you wish to purchase any of these tapes.  While I can not make copies of the
copyrighted tapes, I am gladly willing to make copies of personal and
commercially unpublished collections of some great concerts that I have been
authorized to do.  Availability of all tapes are on a first-come
first-served basis.  The available quantities are also listed against the
title.

I only list some of the major songs on each recording.  If you need
additional details, please forward the individual request to the above named
email address, and I will do my best to address them.

5.  Shri Maharajapuram Vishwanatha Iyer - Concert - 1 tape - Any number of copies
as time permits - Private collection - Date and venue unknown - $10

I have been a music collector for about 8 to 10 years now, and in my
extensive collection, I have been able to acquire only 4 tapes of Shri
Vishwanatha Iyer, Father and Guru of Late Shri Maharajapuram Santhanam and
also the Teacher of Shri Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer.  However, he is from a
time period when recordings were not too common, and therefore it is very
rare to find a recording of Shri Vishwanatha Iyer's performance, let alone a
concert.  This tape therefore becomes a Collector's item.  Very
unfortunately it is only Part 1 of what seems to be a two part concert. 
However, if you are a genuine music lover, then you will understand the
importance of this tape in your collection.

Yet another classic.  Not in comon circulation Shri Musiri Subramania Iyer's
recordings are also difficult to come by.  Here is one in classic "Musiri"
style.  Particularly the kIrthanam in mAnji is outstanding !

goes through 4 rAgams as can be deciphered from the pallavi itself
(shankarABharaNam, thOdi, kalyANi and Durbar)

Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar, some of Shri G. N. Balasubramaniam and Shri T.
V. Shankaranarayanan
