SrimathE RaamAnujAya Nama:

Dear BhakthAs:

In the previous verse of TVMN , Sri MaamunigaL saluted
Swamy NammAzhwAr's Thiruvaimozhi as " MayarvEthum
VaarAmal Maaniidarai Vaazhvikkum MaaRan Soll".
He pointed out that AzhwAr's mayarvu was removed by
ParAthparan, EmperumAn. He goes on to tell us that
Swamy NammAzhwAr in turn removed the nescience , doubts and
confusions of SamsAris that stand in the way of gaining
Moksha Siddhi .Mayarvu is misunderstanding of the true
tatthvams , doubts about their efficacy and forgetting
of these redeeming Tatthvams and their relationships
that estblish the Lord as SarvasmAth paran . Swamy
NammAzhwAr blessed the samsAris to be free from
Mayarvu through the anugraham of His Srisookthis.

In the second verse of TVMN , MaamunigaL sums up
the next 11 verses of TVM I.2.1-11 , which have been
recognized byHis poorvAchAryAs as the essence of
the 3rd and 4th chapter of Brahma Soothrams( Saadhanaa
and Phala adhyAyams):

Veedu seythu maRRevaiyum Mikka-Puhazh NaaraNan ThALL
  naadu nalatthAl adaya nankuraikkum--needu puhazh
VaNN KurhUr MAARAN intha maanilatthOr thaamm vaazha
  paNpudanE paadi aruL Patthu

(Prose order): Needu Puhazh VaNN KuruhUr MaaRan
intha maanilatthOr thAmm vaazha paadi aruL patthu
maRRa yevayum Veedu seythu mikka puhazh NaaraNan ThaaL
Naadu nalatthAl adaya nanku uraikkum.

(meaning): The " Veedumin" Pathikam of Swamy NammAzhwAr
of great fame from the fertile dhivya dEsam of Thirunahari
is for the uplift and redemption of the great souls living
on this Earth. These " patthu " (eleven actually) deal
with MaaRan's upadEsam about relinquishing all except
Bhagavath vishayam and seeking the sacred feet of
Sriman NaarAyaNan of eternal keerthi with unalloyed
BHakthi .

(uyir Karutthu): " Veedu Seythu NaraNan ThALL Naadu"
--TVM : I.2.11
Commnets
********
AhankAram, dEhAthma Bramam (Mistaking the perishable
body with the eternal Jeevan ), interfere with the surrender
of the Jeevan, the Lord's property , to Him thru Prapatthi.
That is the great Saadhanai covered by the 3rd chapter of
Brahma Soothrams. That act would yield the fruit (Phalan ) of
Moksham described by the PhalAdhyAyam of the Fiourth
chapter of Brahma Soothram.

Swamy NammAzhwAr instructs us to renounce all sense-attachments
except the Lord and have single-minded focus on Him ,
who is the indweller of all souls and achith to secure
nithya kaimkaryam in Parama Padham to Sri Vaikunta Naathan
(ThiruviNNagarappan) in the most secure manner . Swamy NammazhwAr
asks us to banish all arrogance , egotism and nescience
that stand in the way of attaining Moksha Sukham through Lord's
unfailing KrupA resulting from the Jeebvan's performance of
Prapatthi. In these eleven paasurams , Swamy NammAzhwAr asks us
to go beyond the alpa sukham of Kaivalyam (Soul realization)
and aim for the lasting sukham of Veedu (Moksham)through
aasrayaNam ( seeking as succor and protection) of Sriman
NaarAyaNan's Thiruvadi.Maamunigal celebrates the compassion
of Swamy NammAzhwAr for us as " Intha MaanilatthOr Vaazha
Padi aruL Patthu". What did Swamy NammAzhwAr suggest as
UpAyam ? The central message on the means for the Phalan of
Moksham is declared as the meditation on AshtAksharam known
also as Moola Manthram, Thirumanthram and Manthra Brahman.

Uyir Karutthu
**************
The Uyir Karutthu for this paasuram is contained
in the 10th verse of TVM(I.2.10):

YeNN perukkan-nalat-thoNN pruLERila
VaNN Puhazh NaaraNan thiNN Kazhal sErE

Rejecting the doctrine that that the Lord has no
attributes and qualities (NirgUna Brahman),
Swamy NammazhwAr asserts that Sriman NaaraayaNan
is Samastha KalyAna GuNa svaroopan and Akhila Heya
PrathyayanIkan ( abode of all auspicious guNmas
and free of any blemish ),the Ubhaya Lingams that
are absolutely essential for the Bhakthi path.

************************************
MaamunigaL incorporated the following key Passages from
the above ThiruvAimozhi in his second paasuram
as the Uyir Karutthu:

" Veedu Seythu " --TVM I.2.1

" VaNN Puhazh NaaraNan ThiNN Kazhal "--I.2.10
( Mikka Puhazh NaaraNan ThaaLL --TVMN: Paasuram 2)

" annalatthu" --TVM : I.2.10
  ( NalatthAludaya --TVMN : Paasuram 2)

Rejection of NirguNa Brahmam and acceptance of
Ubhaya Lingam is referred to here.

"NaaraNan ThiNN Kazhal "--TVM : I.2.10
( NaaraNan ThALL --TVMN: Paasuram 2)

ThiNN Kazhal here stands both for the sacred
feet of the ShaaDguNya ParipoorNan , Sriman
NaarAyaNan as well as Parama Padham.

This ThiruvAimozhi ( I.2.10) and the rest of
the paasurams of ThiruvAimozhi are recognized by
our PoorvAchAryAs as an elaboration of the significance and
powr of the name "NaarAyaNan " and the many deep
meanings of His Moola Manthram .
