Dear Sri VaishNavAs :

Today is one of the greatest days in the history of 
Sri VaishNavam .Today is the sacred day , when a great 
Acharyan incarnated at ThirunArAyaNapuram (Melkote) 
as NrusimhAnupravEsa avathAran . He is saluted with
the Taniyans :

KesavArya KrupA paathram dhee-samAdhi GuNArNavam
Sri SatAri yathIsAnAm dEsikEndhram aham BhajE

PrapadhyE niravadhyAnAm nishadhyAm guNa sampadhAm
SaraNam Bhava bheethAnAm SATAKOPA MUNEESVARAM 

This MahA purushan is none other than Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha
PaadhukhA Sevaka , Srimath Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Yathindhra 
MahA Desikan , the founder of the Ahobila Mata dEsika
paramparai . 

He was born as the son of a great Sri Vaishnavite Scholar ,
AathrEya KiDAmbi KesavAcchAr Swamy of ThirunArAyaNapuram .
The year was SiddhArthi , the month was PurattAsi and the thithi
was Sukla Paksha panchami as it is today .The constellation of 
JyEshtA(kEttai)was in ascendance . The lagnam was Dhanur Lagnam . 
The new born baby wa sgiven the name of SrinivAsan .
The year and the  month corresponding to the birth date in 
the western calendar is September, 1379 A.D. Srinivasan
 learnt saamAnya Saasthrams ( Kaavyam , Naatakam , 
Tarkam , VyAkaraNam  and concluded his VedAdhyayanam 
and Divya Prabhandham recitation from his father . 
He was sent by his father thereafter to
Kaanchipuram to learn adhyAthma Saasthrams and Grantha
ChAthushtya KaalakshEpam ( study of Sri BhAshyam, 
GeethA bhAshyam, Bhagavath vishayam and Srimadh
Rahasya Thraya Saaram ) from the greatest Sri VaishNavite
scholar of the time revered as GatikAsatham ammAL ,
the grandson of the famous AchAryan NadadUr ammAl.
By the  age of twenty like Swami Desikan before ,
the son of KidAmbi KesavAchAr with the name of 
SrinivAsan became a great scholar par excellence .
At the conclusion of his studies , Sri Lakshmi Nrusimhan
of AhObilam invited SrinivAsan to His divya dEsam and
personally initiated the young BrahmachAri of twenty into 
SanyAsAsramam and gave him the name of Sri SatakOpa Jeeyar . 

Sri Lakshmi Narasimhan's uthsava Moorthy also landed 
on the hands of SatakOpa Jeeyar and commanded the Jeeyar
to travel with Him and initiate people of the villages and
cities into Sri ViashNavam thru SamAsrayaNa BharanyAsAdhi
rites and protect the Bhagavadh RaamAnuja Darsanam . From
the September of 1398 A.D., the time of ascending the throne of
Ahobila Mata Peetam as the first occupant to the time of
his departure for parama Padham , many miracles happened 
in the life of Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar . He ruled as
Ahobila mata SimhAsanAdhipathi for nearly 60 blessed years.
His many kaimkaryams to nourish the Bhagavadh RaamAnuja

with the title of Sri VaNN SatakOpa Sri NarAyaNa
YathIndhra MahA Desikan and blesses us all . 

All of the occupants of the throne of Ahobila Matam
are revered as Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha DIVYA PAADHUKHA
SEVAKAAS . 

AdiyEn and three other BhakthAs pondered on what we 
can do to celebrate the Thirunakshathram of this MahAn,
Adhi VaNN SatakOpa Jeeyar , during this PramAthi year .
It became clear to us that nothing will be more important
than celebrating the Lord's PaadhukhAs , which are 
our AchAryAs . Swami Desikan revealed to us first 
the symbolic significance and the greatness of 
Sri RanganAtha PaadhukhAs ( Swami NammAzhwAr ) 
through his marathon effort of completion of thousand
plus slOkams under two hours at Srirangam . These
magnificient grantham , Sri RanganAtha PaadhukhA 
sahasram slOkams are very powerful in their maanthric 
significance and auspiciousness .We decided 
that it will be the kaimkaryam of our life time
to engage in the effort to meditate on PoorvAchArya
Granthams and make them available to other BhagavathAs .
We have created as a team a special home page for 
Swami Desikan's Sri RanganAtha PaadhukhA sahasram 
and present it as a birthday gift to Sri Adhi VaNN SatakOpa 
Jeeyar , who was very dear to both Swami NammAzhwAr 
and Swami Desikan .

The significance of the Paadhukhais of Sri RanganAthA
has been covered in the AchArya Srimukhams . This sthOthram
with 32 chapters on the Lord's Paadhukhais is considered as
the essence of Sri Bhagavadh RaamAnuja SiddhAntham(viz).,
Bhaagavatha Seshathvam . Another view of PurvAchAryAs is
that these 32 chapters are the essence of 32 Brahma VidhyAs 
elaborated in the Upanishads; These 32 chapters are also
considered the quintessence of the 24 lettered Gayathri
Manthram and the 8 lettered AshtAksharam .In yet another view , 
these 32 chapters of Sri RanganAtha PaadhukhA Sahasram 
are considered as the distileld essence of the 18 chapters 
of Bhagavad GitA , 4 chapters of Brahma Soothram and the 10 
decads of Thiruvaimozhi (18+4+10=32).Such is the glory of 
the Sri ranganAtha PaadhukhA sahsram bequeahed to us as 
our Kula Dhanam by Swami Desikan . May all readers be
the beneficiaries of the Divya Dampathis of Srirangam
and Swami NammAzhwAr as well as Swami Desikan .

Oppiliappan Sannadhi Dr.VedAntha Desikan(Dr.VNV) from latter's
monograph released earlier this year by LIFCO at Chennai. 

Sri MaadhavakkaNNan of Singapore has coordinated 
the project with the competent help of Srimathi 
PraveeeNA Anand from their Singapore Base . AdiyEn
has added special notes to the translated slOkams of 
Dr.VNV consisting of Abhinava Desikan Sri UtthamUr
Swamy and Srimadh Andavans of periyAsramam along with
additional points from adiyEn's own anubhavam. We have 
reached a level of 85 slOkams today . It will take us 
another two plus years to complete this kaimkaryam 
at the rate of one slOkam per day . May Sri RanganAyaki 
SamEtha Sri RanganAthA , Swami NammAzhwAr , Swami Desikan
and our own AchAryAs bless us to complete this Kaimkaryam 
and give us the strength and clarity of mind to accomplish
this task that they have commanded us to do .
