From the Bhakti List Archives

I am an slient participant in this list. I was discussing with another
Vaishanavite about his routnie and during the course of that discussion he
informed me something which was quite shocking for me to accept. He
informed me that Narayana is not the ultimate and that he himself
originated from "Narayanee". He infacted informed me that many a
Vaishnavites tend to confuse "Narayanee" as the feminine version of Lord
Narayana, which is not the case. He indicates that "Narayanee" is the
source for Narayana.
My surprise did not end there as he went on to say that "Bhuvaneshwari" is
in higher hierarchy then "Narayanee".
I was indicating to him that only Narayana can help you to get out of this
birth-death cycle and only the Vaishanavite philosophy accounts for
Saranagathi, for which he indicated that such a concept exists for the
Saivaites also.
Please do clarify and correct me and pardon me if I am ignorant
